About 4 days ago, but that's beside the point. Getting busier with IB stuff, haven't had much time to actually post on LJ. Anyway, people keep asking me how it was, and I keep getting a mental blank whenever I'm asked, so I'm going to type it up so I have it written somewhere.
Day 1: Leaving Canberra for Sydney (28/9/06)
Spent half the day being a really excitable jumpy kangaroo and bouncing around everywhere counting down the hours. Then watched a little bit of Dancefest practice until Dad picked me up and felt so happy from all the goodbyes I got from everyone (in particular, Kaz, Elio and Jay). 5 minutes with Dad in the car and I was like 'I miss Kaz...' lol.
Anyway, arrived at the Jolimont after lunch and stuffing stuff into the car well before everyone else did, since that was my set time cuz I'm always late. Trip up to Sydney was rather uneventful, I studied for IB and slept and that's about it. The place we stayed, I'd stayed in before, so I didn't mind it too much, but poor Shufan kept on complaining about how small it was. Pizza was our dinner, and a relatively early night's sleep for an 11.20 departure the next day.
Day 2: Sydney -> Beijing (29/9/06)
There was a reeeeally long wait to check in our luggage, because so many people were also at the check in place. We also didn't manage much of a breakfast, but Shuf was nice and bought a cinnamon roll from Starbucks, supposedly to share between us but mainly for me because I hadn't had breakfast and was hungry. Was a lot though, I didn't actually finish it until we boarded the plane. Spent a good deal of time Duty-Free shopping, though I didn't buy anything cuz it's all too expensive anyway but gave Kaz a running phone commentary (which I've since discovered sliced my credit in half lol). Plane ride was again uneventful, I slept, studied, ate and watched Treasure Planet. That's about it. (Oh, and my IB study bag was insanely heavy..)
Beijing hotel, The Temple of Heaven Holiday Inn (which sounds dodgy) was sooo nice! The beds! The beds!!! Beautiful soft huge I-think-now-they're-silk pillows and cuddly cushions! But when we checked into the hotel it was rather late and we had another early start, so after getting impatient with the bellboys and taking up (me and Shuf) our luggage ourselves, bed was looking like a wonderful place.
For now, that's all I'm writing..sheesh did you think I could write up the whole account in one go? I'll come back and finish it a bit later on. Don't worry, the first and last days were the most boring, it gets a lot better after this!
