Summary: Your soul and body beside me but your heart is with someone else. When will you give your heart to me?
Yamada stared at the boy as they sat in the café in silence. All around them, people were busying themselves, it was a good thing that they were seated right in the corner, Yukito had tears in the corner of his eyes as he tried to process what was happening. Searching for the slightest hint of a smile on Yamada’s face to show that it was all a joke. That nothing is true.
It was their sixth month anniversary. Yukito was excited as he put on clothes after clothes, deciding on one that he looked best in. Just thinking about how far they had gotten made him nervous and he wanted to look perfect.
“Time passed by really fast ne,” Yukito smiled as he lay on the bed with his final choice of clothing.
His phone rang and he quickly picked it up.
“Yuki-chan, are you ready yet? I’m on my way now and I'll be there in 10 mins,” a lovely voice came from the other end, one that he loved listening to.
“Eh! Hai~ I will be done soon. Jaa ne…” Yukito chirped into the phone and quickly ended the call.
Staying in his position for a moment, he realized that he was still in his home clothes will Yamada on the way.
“Yabai!” he quickly changed and fixed his hair.
As he was making the final touches on himself, there was a knock on door. He skipped all the way to the door and smiled widely as he opened the door to reveal the expected person. Yamada was dashing, just as Yukito thought he would. Unexpectedly, Yamada had brought a big bouquet of roses for the younger boy.
“Yama-chan!” he glomps the older boy and took the flowers. Giving him a peck as thanks.
“Yuki-chan, you make it seemed like I just came back from overseas or something,”
“Ah. Gomen. I’m just excited to see you,” Yukito pecked him on his cheeks once again and hugged him tight before letting go. “Thank you for the flowers.”
“It’s nothing. Let’s go?” Yamada held out his hands to Yukito.
“Un!” Yukito chirped.
He quickly placed the rose on the side table and closed the door behind him, reaching out for Yamada’s hand and intertwining his fingers with the other's. They were enjoying their date when they passed by a shop that was playing Yuuki 100%. Yukito stopped and watched their performance, pulling Yamada along with him.
When Yukito squealed at Chinen’s parts, Yamada wanted to pull him away from the shop but he resisted from doing so. After the performance, they continued their walk, heading into a café and ordered some cakes. Yukito realized that something was wrong. Usually Yamada wasn’t so silent when Yukito was fanboying. However, Yamada was quiet. Yukito tilted his head and looked at Yamada with concern.
“Ryo-chan, are you alright?”
“I think we should stop for a while,” Yamada said, audible enough for the both of them to hear.
“Eh?” Yukito eyes widened , confused.
“Let’s break up,” his voice was cold, dead.
“No,” Yukito flatly said. “Why are we breaking up? I don’t understand.”
“Nishii, it’s me,” Yamada tried to explain. “Although I’m trying, I just can’t help but feel frustrated and annoyed. Maybe I’m just not good enough that’s why you would always look at Chinen.”
“No! What are you saying?! I’ve already told you that it’s just fanboying. I admire him. It’s not love. My love for Chinen-kun and my love for you are completely different!” Yukito tried to hold back his tears, to stop it from falling.
“You should know!” He stared at Yamada's expressionless face, unable to accept his words.
“Let’s just take a break from all of this. Okay?” his eyes softened as he saw the tears threatening to fall. It breaks his heart, no matter what he says.
“For how long?”
“As long as we need it,” Yamada flatly replied.
They sat there in silence as they finished the rest of their food. When they left the café, Yukito looked longingly at Yamada, hoping that it was just a joke. But his hopes were smashed when Yamada just waved and said goodbye, heading off in the opposite direction. Yukito turned, unable to watch Yamada's leaving figure as he walked down the road heading to his home. He let his feet drag him along and he managed to make it into his room before falling onto his bed and letting the tears fall.
He looked up at the poster of Chinen.
“Why can’t you just understand that my heart only belongs to you?” he whispered softly, tears straining down his eyes.
He turned to his side table and took out a poster of Yamada, bigger than the one pasted.
“Why...?”
Tears fell onto the poster as he continued to cry.
His eyes were red and swollen when he he went to school the next day. He managed to cry himself to sleep after hours of hearing Yamada's last words in his head. He wanted to take leave, to avoid questions but his mother insisted that he shouldn't miss any lessons, no matter what the reasons were. As he walked through the gate he saw Yamada talking to Chinen, chatting happily. And when he saw Yamada hugging Chinen, he felt a sharp pain shot through his chest.
“Uso…” His eyes widened and tears started to fall down.
“Yukito! Oha...”Ryutaro was about to tap his friend's shoulder when he saw the tears.
“Why are you crying?”’
“Ah! Ryuu-chan! Ohayou. Nande mo nai... Something just.. went into my eyes,” he lied. “I'm not feeling well. I think I’ll go to the nurse.”
“You want me to come with you?”
“It’s okay. You should go to class. Jaa ne,” Yukito left Ryutaro hurriedly.
“I wonder what happened...” as he turned to the shoe locker, he saw Yamada holding on to Chinen’s hand as they walked in.
“EH?!”
Both the boys looked at Ryutaro for a brief moment before shrugging, as they continued walking down the pathway.
“NANI KORE?!” His eyes widened, shocked from what he saw.
“AH! Yukito! He must've seen this. Must be why he’s crying. Argh! Baka buta…”
Ryutaro changed his shoes and went off to find Yukito.
“Ne Ryo-chan, are you really sure about this?” Chinen looked at Yamada who has his head on the table.
“Yes Chii. I’m very sure. Stop asking already,” Yamada sighed.
“Demo… Yukito…” He frowned.
“Don’t mention his name. Please,” Yamada buried his head into his folded arms.
“Alright,” Chinen patted Yamada head. “Don’t cry too much. I will always be here.”
“Arigatou Chii,” Yamada softly whispered.
“Hai… Anything for you Ryo-chan,” Chinen sighed and turned back to face the front. “Anything for you”
