Fortune Cookie

the fortune cookie was right. i had a pleasant trip. in fact, i had an amazing trip. shaun spalding, mike maloney, my mom, and i were all in London at the same time. we hung out for a few days and had a spectacular time. o many things are going through my mind about the trip that i can't formulate them all right now. i'll be updating later to speak of my good times in England.

by the way, i'm going back there in September. plus, i might might get a visa for next summer to work in London for three months. it's a little up in the air, but i think it's going to happen. i met a lot of pretty cool people while i was there. Binta, works in the hotel that i stayed in, gave me her number and other information and told me that next time i come into London i should stay with her at her place. plus, this one girl working in H&M (a department store) said that if i go through with the visa thing, then i should room with her. she did the same thing with a visa a few years ago. she's orginially from Spain and told me that it's super easy to get a place and a job there. she couldn't speak any english at all when she first came to London, but managed to get a steady job, nice place to stay, learn english, and have a social life. also, manuella (a german girl that works in the hotel) told me that next time i come back into London, i'm going to have to visit her. i asked her a question one day and she didn't understand a certain word/phrase so i just started teaching her some english that she still didn't know. after awhile she told me that she wants to see me when i come back and wants to "out go sometime," but i'm not sure if that phrase means the same thing as it does here.

London is such a great place to live. so many cultures, languages, and people all in the same city. i know you might think, "well, that's what the US is like," but it's not to this degree. when you walk down the street, you hear mainly english and a little spanish. in london, you'll hear english, spanish, portuguese, italian, russian, german, middle eastern languages, some african languages, chinese, japanese, etc. it's such a great melting pot. plus, people are more news oriented rather than just entertainment and such. plus, if you want a change in scenery, then you can just travel to another neighboring country. i know that might sound like it's really far away, but it's like us travelling to the next state. just drive a two or three hours and *bam* you're in germany or something.

oh by the way, when my mom and i were coming back home, the flights were totally packed going into the US from London. we wound up going to amsterdam, holland for day. we walked outside the airport doors and it seemed nice. there was a giant tv with soccer playing on it. then the hotel shuttle came to pick us up and take us to the hotel. we started drivingalong and amsterdam is friggin' beautiful. the hotel was in this small town that i think was called Zwanezberg. we checked in and everything and then went to explore the nearby surroundings. the neighorhood was amazing. i just wish that i had known that i still had more pictures inmy camera because i didn't get to snap any shots. the yards were so colorful because of the flowers. i've never seen grass so green. totally amazing.

anyway, i'm going to have to update on the whole trip when i get all the events in order.
