Let's put it this way, my daughter is prone to ask questions during a movie so it is my duty to ensure the following happen BEFORE the movie starts:

1. I remind her of her manners. No talking throughout the movie. I sometimes remind her but at least the movies we've seen lately have been more kid-fare so I'm a bit more tolerant of kid behaviors.

2. I tell her to go to the bathroom, even if she doesn't need to go, she needs to go.

To answer your question: You have every right to call the parent of the child on their child's behavior, but address it to the adult, not the child. If the parent becomes defensive, don't threaten just go to the theatre management and have them kicked out. You pay to see a movie, if a child will not behave then they need to be asked to leave.

I don't understand bringing young children to ANY movies, especially those that are not age appropriate. I know some theatre chains have parents time out where they welcome young children and yes, there's lots of noise, but it's part of the package.

I think if the movie shows after a certain time in the evening, the theatre should ban all children from attending so adults can enjoy the show.
