I'm feeling de-motivated in my horsemanship. We've had major thunderstorms every night this week. The ground is beyond saturated. When it is not raining the humidity is suffocating. This morning it is at 98%!
We talked of a camping trip this weekend, but allowed the rainy forecast, high heat and humidity to deter us. We talked of a ride early this morning but chose not to tear up the lawn to get the trailer across the flooded grass.
I see my bored horses out in the pasture, needing stimulation, needing exercise and yet I cannot bring myself to fight the stickiness, to fight the biting flies, to fight the gnats that will swarm my eyes and ears. I don't want to play in the mud, I don't want play cautiously, I don't want to slip and slide down the trail, I don't want to be sweaty and smelly just from merely being outside.
Is this what it comes down to? Is this what I am...a fair weather rider?
