Let's Talk Torture...Again

Nov 21, 2005 16:38

Okay, so let's get back to it.

Bush and Cheney say that "we do not torture", and then go to great lengths to try and STOP a bill making torture illegal. Torture, being defined as "anything cruel, inhumane, or degrading". Still with me? Good. THAT doesn't make any fucking sense.

Then Porter Goss, head of the CIA says "We don't torture anyone." He further goes on to say that they use "unique" methods to obtain information. Then, as if he wasn't already fucking himself hard enough, he explains his theory that if terrorists can blow people up, we should be able to torture them. Again, it's almost like he's saying two completely opposite things in the same sentence. Wow.

And I mean, am I the only one who can imagine that when he said "We have unique ways to get information." he got some shitty little grin on his face and raised his eyebrows several times in a nearly comical fashion?

I'm sorry, America. I truly am. But if you don't beleive that you're being violatted in your "special place" by this administration, you are wrong. Or in denial.
