My calf muscles stretched and flexed sorely as my feet rhythmically hit the pavement. Coffee had picked up the pace and I analyzed the landscape for her probable stopping point: the wooden fence post. Sure enough, we stopped as she nosed it curiously. I enjoyed the contrast of the rippling, blue lake against the tan, dead landscape as wind's icy fingers tugged at my t-shirt and styled my hair. The sun kept the edge off the cold as it beat down on my red t-shirt, helping me to feel invigorated rather than numb. We made it to the further intersection and back. I began to make dinner: sausage-style meal starter, farfalle and mushroom spaghetti sauce.

Earlier today I enjoyed time with my family, celebrating my cousin's 23rd birthday. It's weird to watch my cousins grow older; somehow I expect them to stay timeless as I change. Illogical, I know.

The song changes on iTunes and Coffee instantly becomes alert. She pinpoints the sound coming from my laptop, stands in front of it and whines. Alright, Coffee, I'll change it. A button press later and Coffee returns to her water dish. There's something about the creaky doors in that song that scares her.

Now she tears apart the rawhide bone while I prepare for the week. This was after she peed in the dining room (again), I took her out for a walk in the front and back yard and also put her on the runner out back for a while. I hope for no additional yellow stain on the carpet in the morning. Although Nature's Miracle is rather effective...
