a snow day

What a lovely day to catch up on things needing doing. Sleep was the first priority and now that that's out of the way, on to more important things like laundry, letter-writing and list-completing. It's been a whirlwind lately. Lots of cooking and baking. Lots of events. Lots of everyday-ness that needs to be completed.

Last Monday (not yesterday), I met with my undergrad adviser about studying for the GRE Subject test for Psychology and doctorate programs. He gave me an introductory psychology book and a history of psychology book to study from. We caught up on what I was doing, what schools I was thinking about and what schools came to mind. It was good, although making the future a little more real (and a bit scary). Happily scary, though.

After school on Tuesday, I stayed after to teach another teacher how to use her new Mimio. There are so many nuances with it that we agreed to meet again. I drove home one of her former students (who I knew fairly well) and ran some errands. Birthday money was deposited and I voted in the primary. Later that evening I visited Ruthie at her parents' house so I could see her professional wedding photos. They are so gorgeous! I can't wait to look through them again and make requests for prints. It was good to see Ruthie as well and I hope we will get together again soon.

Wednesday, after work and internship, I made homemade seitan again for the potluck on Friday. I also made carrot cake cupcakes with coconut frosting for my computer skills class. I wondered if sixth graders would even like those things, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Thursday, the students LOVED the cupcakes. I was so glad. A couple of them even wanted more, but of course that wouldn't be fair as much as I wanted to spoil them.

Friday, after work and internship, I went to 2008's Wake-Up Weekend potluck and lecture. There was good food and good lecture.

Saturday, I intended to wake up at 10 but after oversleeping my alarm I didn't awake until 12:15. I hurried to get ready and go to the next lecture. After the lecture was a panel, an art opening, chili cookoff, art auction and a movie viewing. I realized how much I was out of the loop and it was good to catch up with a few people.

Sunday was church and then I studied at a local bookstore. It was nice to get out of the house to study and I didn't sit in the cafe so I could avoid the temptation of a soy chai latte.

Yesterday was a heavy day at the internship. I eagerly anticipated dinner with a friend afterwards. As I neared Noodles and Co., my car stalled. Luckily, this happened in the parking lot. We had dinner and then I called my dad afterwards. We decided I would drive my car home and my friend would follow me. That worked out and I made it home with no stalling. The heat and CD player were off so I could (hopefully) make it. We thought it was something with the battery and/or alternator.

That brings us today--list-completion. I've glossed over many events of the week, but I just don't have the will for tedium today. You, my readers, are spared for the day.
