A-Kon 22

Oh man, A-Kon was so much fun :,D

At least I didn't get sick on the way there like I did last year, but my best friend Dana's friend Mer did get sick :c Dana felt really bad for her and was even feeling grumpy at one point because of her. But we finally made it into Dallas on Thursday, dropped our stuff off in our rooms at the hotel at The Plaza of the Americas, got our badges from the pre-reg line and Dana went out as Heartless Soldier:

Friday, I went out as Dana's character Draga. It went all right, and our friends recognized who I was. One, who'd drawn a picture of Draga that Dana absolutely loved, said I looked creepy good since my cosplay was so good XD But eh, that cosplay will be better at the photoshoot with Dana's cosplay of her character Kellan, who's best buddies with Draga. Dana also went out as Gizmo again that day, and she was MOBBED. As soon as she was out on the bridge to the hotel and had her mask and gloves on, people were crowding around her, taking pictures. Later, she estimated that she'd had ~300-400 pictures taken of her in her Heartless Soldier cosplay costume over the whole weekend.

I do worry about her in that costume, though- I ran into her on Saturday and she was so grateful to see me since she badly needed a break. After I got her a bottle of water, she told me that it was getting harder to breathe in her suit- the mask has a hole on the inside for her mouth and her breath has to go through the cloth of the mask. The mask for that cosplay scares me the most compared to her others, since it's really tight on her and it could get difficult for her to breathe. But she still had fun. ^^

Saturday kind of sucked balls at first. ><; Mer and I finished the wig for a Bookman cosplay I wanted to do on Friday night, but when I put the wig on for the first time on Saturday morning, the bottom layer tore ;A; So I couldn't use it at all and Bookman was off. Mer and I were upset over that, but we promised each other on Monday when we came home that we'd figure out how to make it a lot better. Later that day, one of the people in our group got mad at her best friend since her best friend was, just like she'd done at many other cons, spending the weekend working on a cosplay in the hotel room instead of being out at the con. Me and Dana had to escape the room since it was so thick with tension. DX

But Dana, as Lavi, and Nathan, as Cross, (both from D.Gray-Man) went out and did have fun too. If Nathan and I had still been in a relationship, I would've been all over him in his Cross cosplay minus the long wig. He looks so damn good in long coats XD; Dana later agreed with me on the drive home from the con that he'd look good as Fuhrer Bradley. 83 If I can go to A-Kon 23 and go as Edward, hopefully I can pull together a FMA cosplay group.

But on Saturday night, I got some pretty sunset pictures after sneaking up to the under-construction top floor of our hotel. ^w^ A girl in our group also kept texting Nathan, asking him to bring her some lemonade since she was so exhausted, even getting her friend to text him too, but he just refused.

Dana and I also rode on the glass elevators in the food court of the Plaza of the Americas on Saturday night. We waved to the people in the windows of the hotel rooms that were on the opposite side from us. One guy in one of the rooms even lifted his shirt for us and I felt like a rock star. We also had a random dance party, with me and Dana dancing in the elevator while it was at a standstill and people in one random hotel room dancing. XDD I think that was one of my favorite parts of the weekend.

Sunday was more chill, as it usually is for a con weekend. There was a D.Gray-Man photoshoot, but my camera batteries died halfway through it. I got some last-minute stuff from the artists' alley and the dealers' room, including this awesome print of a cat puking kittens. (I should take a picture of it later on) Our group also goofed off in the cancer park, as per tradition.

-shirt that says "Hugz?" with a picture of a sad cactus on it
-shirt that says, "English doesn't borrow from other languages. English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar."
-Durarara!! wall scroll
-random bag that had:
--bento box with candy inside
--awesome black chopsticks with a dragon design on them
--wooden elephant
-buttons:
--"Life bites. Bite back."
--"I <3 Neil Gaiman"
--Look of Disapproval
--"i <3 coitus"
--Heartless button (I gave that to Dana- she gave me a button that had Shinra from Durarara on it)
--"You're as popular as a fart in a spacesuit" (I gave this one to my sister)
