She'll burn our horizons, make no mistakes...

Last night was an incredible show, but as I always say, my opinion is inaccurate because anything Something Corporate is involved with, I'm partial to.

I arrived at Roseland at 7 PM because I didn't feel like waiting in line or dealing with stupid people who typically have no lives. My day had gotten off to a bad start, I woke up late and kept getting sidetracked by people. I hate that.

So I met Alanna, Jessie and Kelly in back of the venue and we headed in. Mest was already performing, so Al and I made our way to the usual spot, left side front, and we spotted Christie. We only caught about 4 of Mest's songs, but one of them was a favorite of mine, "Hotel Room." They sounded good, but I didn't really care because Something Corporate was on immediately after and I was excited. Alanna and I pushed some more and got closer and Something COrporate finally went on. I thought they would be doing a 30 minute set since that was their slated time for the other shows, but they busted out with a full hour of songs. I think the set list was something like:

Fall
Punk Rock Princess
Straw Dog
Only Ashes
Konstantine
I Woke Up In A Car
Space
iF U C Jordan
Hurricane

They were extraodrinary as always, and the new songs sounded as good as they could, provided the acoustics sucked. The crowd didn't seem to 'get' Something Corporate and everyone around me seemed bored and uneasy. The crowd itself was pretty homogenous. It was all little kids and their parents waiting to see Good Charlotte. The biggest shock of their lives lied in Andrew's "Fuck You, Jordan" and "little red head bitch." When he said those lines, the parents cupped their kids' ears and it was hilarious. They kept shouting "we want Good Charlotte" and whatnot, and throughout the entire performance, Andrew kept messing with this one girl in the front and center spot because she was being a loser. Finally he got fed up enough to give her what she deserved and he goes:

What's your name?
Girl: Why do you care?
What do you mean why do I care? If you're gonna stand in the front row and be a fucking cunt rag all night at least tell me your name! Here's to being 15 and a bitch - this song's dedicated to you sweetie!

He later apologized for stooping to her level, which was typical Andrew, and they finished the set. Not too many people knew the new songs, not too many people were really there for them. Considering all these factors, they were awesome. Even Moe and Steve thought so. Haha. Then out of nowhere we spotted Alex...adorable, photo taking obsessed, hardcore pop fan, Alex. Haha. That was funny as hell.

So I really wasn't excited about Good Charlotte, but we stayed for the whole show, and they were great. I must give credit where it is due. The Young and the Hopeless was a decent album but NOTHING compared to their first. I know everyone old school GC agrees. I forgot how tight they are live. They did alot of old songs, and I was very pleased. During one of their songs, Jessie spotted Andrew and about 50 girls went over and were "beastin'" on him." LOL. So I took photos for the girls and when the crowd died down Andrew came over to me and hugged me and asked immediately how I had been since the last time we talked, and he wanted to know my honest opinion of the new album. He was really nervous. His hand was on my back and it was like vibrating. He had this unsure expression on his face. He kept saying how he wasn't sure how people were going to react to the new album, and I kept assuring him it was brilliant and everyone would love it. He kept eye contact the full time. People who do that are genuine. That's something alot of people are uncomfortable with, but it's good to find some that aren't.

We finished watching GC, and Benj's lame jokes, then Al and I ran to McDs for we hadn't eaten all day and it was POURING. We had to walk like 5 blocks to the car and Kelly drove me home. I showered and made some rad cds for Mal, Moe and Marina. Of what, you ask...well, North by Something Corporate of course. :)

So coming up soon, I'll be seeing Rooney with Des, Al and Jess, Death Cab for Cutie with Andy and some as-yet planned shows. Good stuff. I'm out.
