[For Marco he sounds a little tired. And while the chocobo chicks go unseen, you can hear them making sounds in the background, of wherever Marco is hiding out.]

I know this is a touchy subject. [Because he doesn't even want to talk about it, but it has to get done, sooner rather than later.] But if at all possible, can anyone tell me about the ( Read more... )

Battle tactics?

Aye. The way the police over there fought was pretty different from my world, and it got me thinking.

Ah, don't go to any trouble, eh.

It's not trouble. I'll never forget. It would be too hard to try.

Understood.

Want to discuss it?

I can answer your question, yeah.

[She sighs and her voice loses all traces of emotion.]

I used to pilot a special biomechanical robot known as Nirvash type=theEND. The battles on my planet took place in the skies, in the KLFs or LFOs--the types of machines, basically. Sometimes they took place on the ground but for the most part, we fought in the clouds.

Biomechanical?

So you lived in sort of sky islands?

It's... well, essentially a robot who can... breathe. They're kind of alive, even though we pilot them.

No, I lived on the ground. We just fought in the air. No islands or anything... well, there could have been but I didn't go to any.

I'll take your word on it.

I see. Why did all the fighting take place in the skies then?

I could probably draw you a picture. TheEND was pretty amazing. My only friend besides Gulliver, for a long, long time...

We fought in the skies because you can't hurt the civilians there. Everyone lived on land. The few times we went down, we were in open fields, or we ended up taking out buildings and smashing cars. Too much public damage; I suspect Dewey didn't want to pay if I broke anything. Plus... the robots, they flew.

It felt better up there anyway, in the skies, surrounded by the trapar. The rest of the world looks so small and insignificant from the skies...

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing it, eh.

Mm. I know how it is to fly. You miss it here? Not just your friend, but being in the air I mean.

Your enemies really refrained from involving citizens though?

Give me a few minutes...

Flying? Yeah... I really, really do. But I've gotten to fly here. Cube had these shoes with wings, and he let me borrow them once. It was... it reminded me of my training days when I got to slack off. Just free flying.

[Though she takes a moment to think on the last one.] Eh... they didn't really avoid the people, but... it depended on the enemy. Everything was politics. But there was the GekkoState, who hated us anyway--they were one group of rebels mostly against the military--and so they always fought me in the air. Just because that's where we met up.

But the Coralians... the other ones, not Eureka or me... I don't think they cared. They destroyed whatever, so those were usually the boring rescue missions, because the people were too stupid to run. Or they weren't fast enough. I guess I can't really blame them, but still ( ... )

Heh, sounds nice, eh. I always forget how many people here can fly. Back in my world, it's extremely rare.

All right I see... bulletproof armor... are guns that common then?

Sounds like Dominic's done a lot.
