Pairings: Past Prime!Spock/Nu!Kirk
Warnings: Genderswapping - Crack

JUST BECAUSE MIRROR!SPOCK AND NU!SPOCK ARE BOTH CHASING NU!KIRK FOR HIS FROZEN DAIRY CONFECTION DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A SOAP OPERA. EVEN IF THEY DON'T KNOW THAT HE GAVE HIS VIRGINITY TO SPOCK PRIME YEARS AGO IN A SINGLE WILD NIGHT THAT NEITHER HAS EVER MENTIONED AGAIN, AND GAVE BIRTH TO A SECRET LOVE-CHILD WHOSE EXISTENCE IS A DEEP DARK SECRET IN THE TORMENTED CORNERS OF KIRK'S SOUL.
And
ladyblahblah added this: And you know that Kirk harbours a serious crush on Spock Prime. The mind-meld sexxings gave him all these feelings, and his Spock is beautiful but could never love him and Spock Prime loves him-not-him and Kirk knows he was seeing hazel eyes that night, and dammit evil-goateed-Spock is starting to look more and more attractive. He may be a merciless and murdering pirate but at least he sees Jim when he looks at him. He's never going to be able to tell any of them that the ten-month sabbatical while the Enterprise was in dry-dock was actually spent as a woman.
And all I can say is this plot has been chewing on my brain, and the only way to get it written down was to split it into parts. So without further ado I present "What might have been"
“Buy a lady a drink?” A voice drawled from behind Bones. Without turning around he stated, “Sorry darlin, not interested.”
“Oh I’m sure we can generate some interest,” came the drawled response. Bones sighed deeply, placing his Whiskey Sour back on the bar and turned with a regretful sigh, “Listen darlin, I’m not in the… Jim! What happened to you?”
“It’s a long story, care to buy me that drink?” Jim replied, casually tossing back her shoulder length mane.
“Not on your life! You have any idea how bad alcohol is for a la…er…person in your condition?”
“Relax Bonesy, I just wanted a glass of water,” Jim smirked, moving to sit beside Bones at the bar.
“Oh no you don’t! Let’s go find a table so I can hear your story before I throttle you!”
With that said, Bones sprang up from his seat and latched onto Jim’s elbow. Towing the space captain behind him he searched for a semi-private table. This conversation was long overdue.
Finally seated across from the blonde, Bones growled, “Okay, Spill.”
Jim smiled and took a sip of her water. “You remember that supply run we did to New Vulcan and how everyone on the transporter pad swapped genders as they were beamed down?” she inquired with a slight smirk.
“Yes. Scotty had a devil of a time fixing that mishap,” Bones replied with a frown.
“Well after we landed and it was determined that Scotty couldn’t fix us at the moment, we decided to complete our mission. After we had transported all the supplies from the transporter room, we were able to mingle with the Vulcan’s and their ambassadors.” Jim quirked a smile her blue eyes darkening with remembered sorrow.
“You remember me telling you about Future!Spock? Yeah he was there, going by the name of Selek, as an Ambassador to Romulus.” A bitter chuckle escaped at the irony.
“So what happened Darlin?” Bones queried.
“Spock and I talked about the adventures that he shared with his Jim, and the adventures I’ve shared with my Spock. You know, one crazed Romulan has royally screwed up our timeline. Spock and I, we were meant for so much more. I know he has Nyota now, but I wish… well I guess wishes are for children.”
Leering she continued, “Anyways, one drink led to another and before I knew it, the Ambassador was sucking on my neck and I was melting.”
Jim paused and took a quick sip of her water before quirking a smile. “One night of mind-blowing sex later, I was waking up aching in places never felt before with the worlds’ largest hangover. And lying beside me was someone I thought I could be happy with, but he was reeling through the truth that he had betrayed his soul mate.”
A tear trickled down her face as she whispered, “I’ve never been jealous of anyone before, but I have to say that I was jealous of his Jim. I mean really, if I thought I could have what he had with his Jim I’d take it. I guess fate isn’t through playing with me though. Not only do I not get the epic love that the other Jim got, I don’t even have the family to fall back on. Sammy is gone and Mom can’t even look at me,”
Watching her cry, Bones scowled. She had been royally screwed over in this life, and it didn’t look as if it were going to get any better.
“So what’d you say to Spock?” Bones questioned gruffly.
“What do you think? He didn’t want me. I told him that I’d forget that it had ever happened. I got dressed and left him there reeling. The landing crew met up in the transporter room, and we beamed back onto the Enterprise. Scotty was there and told us that he’d work around the clock to figure out how to fix us.”
Sighing sardonically, she stated, “One night turned into three weeks and before I knew it I was throwing up when I woke up. My breasts were tender and my moods were mercurial. Not knowing what was going on, I scheduled an appointment with Christine. I didn’t want you to know. You’re my best friend, but this was personal… I was afraid I was dying.”
Bones scowled, “You should have told me Jim! Damnit man! I’m a doctor not a hysterical woman. I would’ve been able to take the news.”
“Anyway, after listening to my symptoms, she administered a pregnancy test. Obviously it came back positive. Before I could do more than reel under the shock, Scotty was paging me.”
Jim took a deep breath and sipped her water, muttering under her breath “God I wish I could have something stronger.”
“Scotty, being the genius he is, had fixed the problem. Pavel, Ensign Roberts and I could be returned to our proper sex. Before I could decide what to do, Christine was reading the test results of the baby’s blood. It’s copper based. I’m carrying a part-Vulcan baby.”
Pausing for a moment, she swallowed a gulp of water before continuing. “Christine then informed me that if I were to allow Scotty to “fix” me, I’d lose the baby. There was no way the baby would survive inside my male form. Hell Bones, I’ve lost enough family, I couldn’t justify being fixed and losing her. Sure her other father may not even know she exists, but I know. And I’ll be damned before I give her up,” Jim whispered harshly, a dangerous glint in her cobalt eyes.
“Jim, I understand all that, I do. But damnit all! I’m not just your friend; I’m also your Chief Medical Officer. You should have told me what was going on. Do you have any idea how worried we’ve been for the last five months?” Bones exploded, glaring darkly at the slight woman in front of him.
“Bones, I told Pike what was going on. He’s the one who came up with the five-month “training” period I needed to do before I could resume control of the Enterprise. I had to reach the sixth month mark before I could safely come back. If someone had found out before now, the other Admirals could and would have forced me to abort the baby. I haven’t fought that long for her, to lose her because of a bunch of Bureaucrats. I may be technically male, but I’m carrying George Kirks’ first grandchild,” Jim shot Bones a pleading look. “Do you understand?”
“Shh Darlin, you know I’m behind you one hundred percent. I know the Bridge crew will be there as well. We’ll get you through this and the baby safely delivered too. Now you said Admiral Pike knows…everything?”
“Everything. He arranged for the five-month dry dock of the Enterprise so I could reach my sixth month safely. After all, Mom went into space when she was pregnant for me, it’s actually safer on the Enterprise than here on Earth. So we were just waiting for me to get past the point where a mandatory abortion would be pushed through. After all, being six months pregnant with a baby that’s Vulcan enough to have some Psi talent…. Well they can’t really make me abort her now. You know how all Mothers have a higher Psi rating than non-Mothers? Well my Psi rating is high enough for me to get the feelings of contentment and Peace from my baby. She’s happy and loved, its amazing Bones. I don’t feel so alone anymore. My little girl is amazing,”
“Darlin that’s wonderful. I’m sorry that you got in this position, but I’m not sorry you’ve got the family that you’ve always wanted. Now if you don’t mind, I think it’s time we got back to the Enterprise. There’s some very anxious people looking for you,” Bones drawled, getting to his feet before turning and helping Jim to hers.
“It’s gonna be a shock, but I know that they’ll be there for you. Even Spock has been worried for ya,”
“If you say so Bones, I guess I’ll believe it when I see it,”
“Good, well let’s get home darlin, the Enterprise awaits,” Bones ran his hands down Jim’s back in a soothing gesture before leading her out of the bar. Considering the fact that he had gone into that bar to drink away his worry, it felt pretty good to leave with the cause of his worry safe and sound, if only he could ignore those new worries that had sprang up at the sight of Jim’s gravid condition.
Right or wrong, they were going home.
