Alright, now that I've gained back enough sleep to think straight I feel as though I owe this blog some comments on what I learned and experienced at camp. Thus, what follows centers around what I learned and experienced at camp...go figure.
I experienced many inconveniences to be sure, but they aren't terrible, especially in retrospect: lack of sleep, incessant bugs, a severe storm, emotional tension, a cold, staff drama, immature children (I should have seen that one coming...haha), more bruises than I care to count, two sunburns, and a lot of mud.
Those "bad" things really pail in comparison to the good things I encountered: staring at God's beautiful stars multiple times, building great friendships, experiencing Nebraskan nature up close and personal, mountain boarding twice, having the honor of answering my campers' difficult questions ("What if Jesus had sinned?"), laughing so much I'm surprised my head is still attached to my body, ministering with friends, ministering to friends, having my 19th birthday with my 'rents and then with friends, worshiping God in various ways, swimming when it was unbelievably hot outside, having an impact on campers' lives, learning what God wanted to teach me, and tons of other things that I'm sure I'm leaving out.
I came away from Camp with two big things that God taught me there:
1-The spiritual realm is real, affects our daily material lives, and is perhaps far more real that our material lives. There is always a battle going on, whether we recognize it or not. Being on God's side and fighting for Him is the highest honor imaginable. I need to stand and fight for God's side daily.
2-I think God is calling me to start some type of housechurch/bible study/discussion group on campus this coming semester. God has been preparing me for this for quite some time and reading the book "Revolution" by George Barna solidified in my mind His call for me. I have much to say on this topic, but I'll save that for some other time.
Well, that's all I have to say about Camp for now. I hope to post a few pictures on here sometime, we'll see.
Thanks for reading.
Rock on!
