The twins hadn't made it as far as their rooms. They'd been lucky to get out of the lab. One hundred more of each doll crowded into the spare room next to Ginny's. All in a night's work... The latest (and largest) batch of dolls was done and, with any luck, these would sustain the shop long enough for the twins to a) get some sleep, b) re-stock other areas of the shop and c) get the books back under control.

Fred and George had managed to get as far as their couch, before they both came to a screeching (actually, it was more like a shuffling) halt. They'd each meant to just sit down... Just for a little while...

But the couch was so comfy.... and it wasn't long before they were both out like lights.

The sound of keys jingling startled George awake. Fred stirred slightly and mumbled something, then settled further into the cushions. "Whazzat?" George asked, sitting up and stretching the kinks out of his neck.

George looked around the flat. The lights were still on... That wasn't good. "Hey what's up?" he asked with a sleepy smile on his face. "What time is it?"

But even barely awake, George didn't miss the angry movements of his sister's hands. He was suddenly wide (well, a bit more, at least) awake. "What's up, Gin?" he asked, getting up and going to put an arm around her.

Ginny leaned into the comforting support of George's arm and hid her face against his shirt, no longer caring that she felt eleven years old. She was simply happy to have a shoulder to hide her face against.

"Harry's a prat," she mumbled, muffled against his shoulder with watery outrage. "An absolute prat. Not only did he stand me up but he- He-!"

She began to sputter again as she started to work herself back up into a righteous fury. When she lifted her face again to glare at George, her eyes were snapping once more, "He was out all hours of the night and said that he 'simply couldn't tell me'."

She mimicked Harry's tones as a good deal more pompus. Ginny scowled darkly before continuing, "He thought I was Malfoy when he got home and he was so rude 'bout it. We fought and he's gone and kissed Malfoy - or Malfoy kissed him - and he didn't tell me."

George's arms closed around Ginny, slowly drawing her over to the couch so she could sit down. She was babbling... almost incoherently and crying?!?! Ginny didn't cry... Well, she did, but not often...

George managed to understand "Harry, prat and Draco... and something about a kiss."

"Okay... slow down, Gin..." he said gently, pulling her down to the sofa, between him and Fred. Reaching behind him, he grabbed a pillow off the couch and threw it hard at Fred's head. "Hey wake up."

"Make the room stop bouncing," Fred cried, belatedly waving off the attack. That just prompted George to grab another pillow. This time, instead of throwing it, he hit his twin several times, until he woke up. "Bloody hell! What's going on?"

Fred sat up and glared over Ginny's head at George, for a moment. "Shut up, you idiot," George retorted, then turned his attention back to Ginny. "Okay... one more time... What happened?"

Ginny followed the gentle prodding to the couch obediently and she collapsed into the cushions. She reached out and gathered the cushion that had bounced off of Fred's head against her stomach, folding her arms around it and resting her chin on it while George pummled their brother into conciousness.

"I was s'posed to have dinner with Harry tonight," Ginny repeated obediently as she rubbed a hand over her nose that had gone blotchy. Ruddy complexion. Not only did the sun cause her to be covered in spots, but the moment her eyes teared up, it left her all red and splotchy.

She lifted her chin up, to keep from mumbling into the pillow, "He didn't show up f'r hours and hours. When he did get home, he thought I was Draco and was all put out that I wasn't bloody Malfoy."

Ginny spat Draco's name out with some real ire as she continued, "We had this nasty row where he told me that he wasn't going to tell me what he'd been up to and that I just had to bloody accept it, you know? This is of course after he was so terribly angry just a few weeks ago when I saw Snape and he made me promise to tell him everything. Ruddy everything!"

She glanced over to Fred, her teary eyes demanding sympathetic agreement that her boyfriend was a cad and a bounder as she cuddled deeper into George's arm. "'Course I did. Now he's gone and kissed Malfoy - well, Malfoy might have kissed him - but that doesn't matter. He didn't say a ruddy word! That's the sort of thing you tell your girlfriend if she matters."

Ginny let out a little hiccup as she used the corner of her sleeve to scrub away the last traces of tears and evening make-up, leaving her cheeks pinkened and raw.

"Which I clearly don't. I'm such an idiot." She said angrily as she started to devolve into rather menacing muttering. Her brown gaze was focused on some point over the coffee table but she was clearly picturing her beloved boyfriend's head on a pike. "I should have caved his bloody skull in with the lamp. Or Malfoy. Or both of them. I covered for him too. All the sneaking around in closets and such when he felt like he couldn't actually ask me out. I'm such an idiot."

Fred was fully awake now and just as concerned over the apparently fragile state of his little sister. The twins listened to her explain everything, to the best of her current ability.

"That insensitive... wanker!!" Fred finally exploded, getting up to pace, while George held Ginny. Oh... he was mad and running on very little sleep... THat didn't make for a very good combination... "Say the word, Gin and he's a pinata."

"You're not an idiot, Ginny," George argued, tightening his arms around her. "You're smarter than the both of us. And bloody resoursful. And, if anything, Potter's the idiot for treating you this way. If I get my hands on him..."

"He's toast, Gin," Fred added, sitting down on the coffee table, in front of Ginny and George. He took one of Ginny's hands and gave it a little tug. "Toast..."

Tears welled up once more in Ginny's dark eyes but these had more to do with the equally grim expressions of two protective brothers. She tugged back on Fred's hand, squeezing it before she gave George a one armed hug.

"What would I do without you two?" For the first time since coming through the door she managed a ghost of her usual smile.

She felt fairly hollow inside and simply exhausted. No matter how furious she was at Harry, throwing the bobble head at him had exhausted her physical rage and she shook her head at the idea of pounding his face into pavement.

"Honestly, I think all I want to do is crawl into bed and hide for a few hours," she admitted, "It isn't terribly brave but I feel rather like I'm the one that was kicked in the stomach. Would one of you mind owling St. Mungo's and telling them I'm ill? I just... I just don't feel like fielding questions today from Harry's adoring masses."

"Die of boredom," Fred suggested.

"Save your sanity," George added.

They could have listed off so many things... And probably would have, it it would make Ginny smile again. That little hint of a smile she offered them wasn't nearly acceptable... And they were suddenly quite peeved at their "esteemed Savoir"... In fact, if either of them had had the talent for it, they might have been sending Potter a howler, right about now...

But that, they would have to leave for Mum... If and when she ever found out about this.

"I'll owl St. Mungos," George replied, kissing the top of Ginny's head. He was better at tact, than Fred, after all.

"Let's get you up to bed," Fred suggested, standing up and waiting for his twin and Ginny to do the same.

Ginny reached out to let Fred pull her to her feet looking, if not happy, at least relieved. She didn't shirk her work schedual often but Ginny knew that she'd be of little use to her patients when the threat of Harry coming up might send her into tears or fury.

"A little of both, I think, but mostly I would be terribly sad far too often," Ginny said as she pressed a kiss against Fred's cheek and gave George one more tight squeeze when he stood up.

"Thanks, for everything," she said simply before she started for the stairs. "Don't forget to get some rest yourselves. You've been working far too hard lately. If you work yourselves sick, you'll have to deal with my terrible bedside manners."

As a joke, it fell a little flat but she was trying, at least to lighten the mood.

Fred pulled Ginny into a hug as soon as she got to her feet. "We can't have that now, can we," he chuckled.

George, meanwhile, waved off Ginny's thanks. "It's what we're here for," he told her. "And we have the weekend to catch up on stuff like sleep."

"Yeah," Fred smiled sleepily, "you wouldn't know it to go downstairs, but sales are actually starting to trickle off a bit. The batch of dolls we just finished should last us a while..."

"We hope," George chimmed in.

"As long as your bedside manner is better than Madam Pomfrey's," Fred grinned.

Ginny smiled and shook her head at the two of them. That, at least, was a genuine Ginny-smile. If nothing else, at least their sister rebounded quickly, or stuffed the emotions back down. One or the other.

"I did learn much of what I know from Poppy," she said with a chuckle as she ascened the stairs towards her room. "I can say that my potions taste just as dreadful."

Now that was better, at least! George answered Ginny's smile with one of his own, then went off to his room to Owl St. Mungos.

Fred just made a face at the thought of taking awful-tasting potions and followed her up the stairs. "We'll have to do our best to not get sick then," he replied. "You just get some sleep... And if you have to come downstairs... go out the back... The shop's gone completely bonkers."
