The way he answered her did direct her to put herself in check, but it took a moment of staring at him and being upset at his decisions before Tonks could ease off the questioning dance. She sighed again and leaned away to just sit on the floor, a few inches away from his feet. One of her hands smacked the side of her face as she forced herself to calm down. What a wonderful reaction, she could definitely be counted on to be a friend to another, and listen to problem and support and comfort, couldn’t she. Now she felt disgusted with herself, and couldn’t understand why she was so rude.

“I’m…. I’m sorry Charlie… I didn’t mean to make you feel stupid. I just… I mean, if anyone hurt me like that… I wouldn’t even be able to look at them again. No one should do that to another… no one has the right to hurt another person in such a way. I don’t think…. And I wish I would have known about this sooner to perhaps stop it from happening again. But… I’m sorry… I’ll stop… I promise.” She lowered her eyes to the floor and shook her head, and then suddenly struggled up to her knees and walked on her kneecaps to kneel close to him as she reached out her arms.

“Don’t suppose a hug would help matters any, would it? I’m good at hugs, promise.”

Before Tonks shuffled towards him on her knees, Charlie had began to nullify Tonks' apologies. Really, it wasn't her fault she'd reacted like she had. She'd been drinking and- well, it was stupid. And she really did look sorry.

"No. It's all right." He said, a slight slur seeming to surface suddenly. (Try saying that ten times fast.) "I- I don't usually think about things like that. She asked, so I went-"

His friend approached him on her knees, arms outstretched. He smiled- and sliding out of his (uncomfortable) chair, landing in front of Tonks, he allowed himself to be embraced.

She gave him a big squeeze, possibly trying to vent out the last of her frustrations with him in that action, but also Tonks wanted to let Charlie know she was really sorry for jumping on his case like that, and was already regretting it. He never did such a thing with her, a long while ago, when she confessed her stupidity about actions of the heart. Truly, she felt like she had been the biggest wanker on earth, and surpassed Charlie in that area. Who’d of thought?

She let him go and shook her head. “No… no, you don’t have to explain yourself… sometimes we all do stupid things when we think with our hearts and not our heads…right?” She lifted her eyes to give Charlie a questionable look.

“I still don’t think highly of that woman though… and never will. She better not come to London… ever.” Tonks said with a scowl, as she lowered her eyes to the floor, and her body down to rest on the heels of her feet.

Charlie, despite the noise of close-to-cracking ribs he could hear with disturbing clarity, squeezed Tonks back. She was right- Charlie had to admit, she did give good hugs, albeit a little strong-armed.

"Right." Confirmed Charlie, after releasing her, and giving her a reassuring smile. "Really, though. It's fine."

Unsteadily, he climbed to his feet (with a lot of help from his chair). "Don't worry, love," he hiccuped, grabbing whatever bottle happened to be next in the box. He exaimed it with a drunk's slow consideration. "She won't. Drink-? Wait."

With a frown, Charlie set the bottle down and slid back into his chair. "What would you do, if she did came?"

As improper (as if etiquette ever mattered to Charlie..) as it was, Charlie's mind instantly yelled out 'Cat fight!'

Tonks released a light chuckle as Charlie moved back into his chair. “Well, next time I turn into a crazy… you’ll have to smack me, or something.” She chuckled again and sighed. Well as long as he was ok with her awful behavior, she guessed she could try and blow it off as easily as Charlie did… that was, until he asked her what she would do if his ex would come to London.

Tonks worked her knees, and used her arms to climb back up on her feet. She was supposed to be getting drunk with her friend, and just remembered she was without drink. But before she could find her glass, after finally standing on her feet again, she started thinking of what she would do to that floozy.

“What would I do? What would I do?” Apparently she had to clarify, twice, what Charlie had just said before she could address the question properly. Her eyes found her mug next to his chair on a crate, and Tonks reached for it as one of her hands used the armrest of Charlie’s chair to balance. Her eyes went to his face as she clasped her fingers around her empty mug.

“Do you seriously have to ask that question? What do I do to you when you piss me off? And I go easy on you… she better never come here… or I just better not find out about it. She owls you again… tell her to leave you be, because if she doesn’t… I’ll make her change her mind.” And Tonks nodded as if to confirm she would do such a thing. Whatever that may be, Tonks didn’t bring to light exactly what she would do- but it wouldn’t be pleasant. Not in the least.

“Will you share… please?” She asked, suddenly, as she lifted up her empty mug to Charlie.

"Ah. Well. In that case." Charlie grinned slyly at Tonks and twisted in the chair to pick up the bottle. It was, Charlie was pleased to see, vodka. Of course, there were other things in the crate- but. Vodka was quick.

After uncapping the bottle, he poured a generous amount into Tonks' outstretched mug, then allowed himself quite a drink. "Cheers."

She allowed him to pour her beverage, then took a step back as she eyed him curiously.

“What are you going on about? What do you mean- ‘In that case’? If you are thinking about inviting her because you wanna see me do something silly… then forget it Charlie Weasley. I’m not going to bother if you are trying to force us together for your enjoyment.” Tonks narrowed her eyes at Charlie, and then dared to take a sip off her drink. It made her gasp and cough. Oh gods, it was the strong stuff he liked. Well,..I suppose this night won’t last much longer.. thank Merlin for that!

“If you wanna see what I would do- I could demonstrate on you.. give you a few black eyes and perhaps a bloody nose- so you’ll get to see first hand the action. How about it?” She grinned mischievously as she edged closer to Charlie, trying to look all menacing and evil, but her staggering steps weren’t letting that happen.

"Now," Charlie said, watching as Tonks sipped at her drink. "What do you mean, for my enjoyment? What kind of man do you think I am?"

He grinned at Tonks, and managed to get to his feet once again. He then upped his glass in one quick jerk. With all contents drained, he was forced to breathe deeply for a moment- although he wobbled on his feet. "Oi." Strong stuff. -Charlie's eyes glinted, much like Tonks' did- with drink and mischief.

But he stood his ground, laughing lightly as Tonks tried to intimidate him. "Hit me with your besshot," he slurred.

She didn’t understand how he could drink so much, as she watched him down another glass, but it made her smirk as she cleared the distance.

“Keep drinking, and I’ll be able to trounce on you so easily…. You’ll just fall over with a touch of a finger.” And she demonstrated such, for they stood closer now, by touching her index finger against one of his arms, pushing with it slightly.

“You’d make it too easy to be any sort of rewarding challenge.” Then Tonks chuckled loudly. “Too easy… ahh… I just called you easy…” She chuckled as she looked up at him.

"You will do no such thing," replied Charlie in what he figured was an indignant tone, giving Tonks a mock reproachful look. But he quickly dropped it and laughed, unable to keep a straight face. And then- she poked him- and causing him to stumble a step back. Luckily, though, he hit the chair, which managed to keep him upright.

"Easy, am I?" He asked, looking down at her after straightening up. He brushed off his right sleeve for some reason. "How would you know?"

Tonks wrinkled up her nose and tried to force her face into a glare, but it was hardly successful.

“I will too do such a thing…. Look…see?” She gestured at him and his stumbling. “I touch you and you go reeling away… you can’t handle a wallop from me.”

She snickered and brought her drink up for another tiny sip, which immediately forced her to make a face. Then she glanced back up at Charlie.

“How do I know? I took a guess… an obvious guess… I suppose I am right.” She angled up her chin in a snooty way as she grinned. “Besides, aren’t you?” She couldn’t stop herself from laughing silently after that question.

"I could handle more than a wallop," Charlie said in a serious tone, with a heavy nod- almost causing himself to lose his balance. "Whoa--" He put a hand on the ever-supporting chair.

A grin spread over Charlie's face at his near catastrophe, but his eyes kept locked on Tonk's cup as she took a sip. They then moved to look at her.

"Why are you asking me if you already know?" He answered in an equally snooty way, then began to grin wickedly. "Do you want to-" His eyebrows went up suggestively. "Find out?"

Tonks couldn’t help but to laugh as Charlie proclaimed to handle anything she could dish out, but certainly standing was going to be an issue. That’s when she realized they had already had loads to drink, and she could feel a hint of spins around the room, so she figured she shouldn’t have any more of her drink… not for a bit anyway.

Her eyes noticed his face change, something about it was very suspicious, and it made Tonks arch an eyebrow at him. That was, until he opened his mouth. That cheeky monkey and his silly words! But she wasn’t offended… not in the least.. and thought it would be rather funny to play with him, not too much, but just make him get his hopes up.

“Oh.. do you think I should?” She tilted her head as she gave him a provocative smile and shifted, not easily, on her feet. “I don’t know… like you said… if I already know, there is no point really…”

"Well." He said, mirroring her smile- a warm buzz humming in the back of his head. "You might as well find out if the rumours are true. Don't you think?"

“Who said anything about Rumors… or are you suggesting you have heard rumors about yourself and your slack ways of things?” She asked, teasingly, with a big grin plastered over her face.

“Besides… you can’t prove anything to me in the current state you are in.. I mean.. what are you going to do… breathe on me?” She sneered as she took a step away from him.

“Oh well yeah, that would be easy to do… wouldn’t it?”

Charlie laughed and nodded in agreement. "That would be easy. But boring- besides, I'm sure I could prove something. I'm not incon-... Inconpe..." The word seemed stuck and only able to come out jumbled, but he shrugged it off. "Hell."
