There were times when Cordelia absolutely adored her lot in life. She was beautiful, she was smart, she was a Pureblood and nearly everyone in the Ministry held her in high esteem. One might have gone so far as to say they loved her. Cordelia wasn't exactly arrogant, but she wasn't humble either and she didn't bother to pretend to be.
However, this was not one of those times. Cordelia, who was well on her way to becoming the public face of the Ministry, who had had breakfast with Minister and lunch with one of the chief members of the Wizengamot, was now being forced to do a menial task. It was necessary, of course. After the incident with Greyback, werewolves were on the Ministry's high-priority list of Things to Keep an Eye On and with the full moon in just a few hours somebody had to make sure the beasts weren't running amok. But honestly, Cordelia shouldn't have had to do this. Why couldn't some second-year Auror? They were all itching to prove themselves. They'd probably fall into whatever trap was set for them in their eagerness, the little puppies.
Still, it would look good. The personal touch, if you would. And so Cordelia found herself in front of a shabby little building, brushing her hands down her red robes to straighten any wrinkles (and to make sure none of the dirtiness of the neighborhood could find a place to cling)and knocking on the door to Spinner's End.
