I appreciate the offer, and circumstances being what they are for my clinic, I expect I'll take you up on the offer.
But it's Draco's health that worries me now. I appreciate your reasons for wanting to take him home, but I need to monitor his condition, at least superficially. I would like your permission to stop by the Manor.

You will of course be welcome at the Manor, in any capacity.

I will stop by later this evening and bring more supplies and check on his progress. If you have not already made arrangements with Ginevra for her to continue to tend his leg, I would be willing to speak with her on your behalf. I would not trust anyone else in my acquaintance with the degree of reconstructive work he is likely to require.
As for your gratitude - it is understood and appreciated but entirely unnecessary. You know there is little I would not do for Draco or your family. While I do not presume to speak for Remus, I know he would have done nothing less for anyone.
Tend to your family, Lucius. Tell me if you need anything within my power to provide.

It most certainly is necessary. You have no duty to my family, and yet you have provided us with more assistance than some which I could call kin.
You have been a true friend Severus.

No duty to your family? Lucius - I would have been beaten to a bloody pulp, a snot-nosed, greasy-haired, impoverished half-blood swot sorted into Slytherin House, without your protection and intervention. I would still be speaking with a heavy Yorkshire accent, revolting grammar and no diction at all if not for the tutors your father helped my grandfather to locate and hire. Narcissa's deportment and sodding dancing lessons when you were betrothed, that I might not humiliate you at your wedding.
Shall I go on?
There are very few people who have known me as long or as well as your family. I have known Draco since his infancy and been privileged to be close to him as he matured. How could I feel less than indebted to you?
If I have been a friend to you, it is only because you have been like a brother to me.
The sentiment is mutual, Lucius.

Shall I share a secret? I rather liked the Yorkshire accent. Though of course, it did seem like a foreign language a lage part of the time.
I'd quite forgotten about the dancing lessons. It was all very amusing until Narcissa grew weary of your stepping on her toes, and instead insisted you tread on mine all the way across the dance floor.
Severus, Draco adores you, and my boy always gets his way. Not that I would desire anything less.

Lucius,
Thanks are not necessary. My only wish is that we could have gotten there sooner to prevent the damage that was done.
Under the circumstances, I would not blame him or your family for not wanting my presence and the reminder of what I am to be around at the moment. But, if Draco or your family needs anything, even if you just have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Severus can answer many of your questions, I'm sure. But sometimes it helps to have someone who has more direct experience give an opinion as well.
Remus Lupin
P.S. You have a right to know I've sent the others out hunting and have alerted certain allies with similar means and motives as well.

A wish that I share.
Not at all, you would be most welcome at the Manor.
As for your endeavours, I have contacts of my own to persue. I would appreciate it if you could keep me abreast of any actions, and will of course do the same for you.

The quarry is adept at avoiding the hunt and it may take some time. But, you will be kept informed of any progress.
I understand there is a possibility Draco will spend Thursday evening with us as a precaution. If his attacker has not been too injured, it is possible he may try to finish the job at the Manor, unaware of his target's absence. There are certain wards available to those with my condition that would secure your home against such an inevitability. Due to oaths taken upon their instruction, I cannot teach them to one not of our kind, not even Severus. But I can use them to your benefit if you so wish.
It may be an unnecessary precaution, but it is an option you should be aware of.

I have revised the Manor's charms to be as protective as possible, though I am certain that your methods are more knowledgeable and I would be most thankful if you could help build these wards.
It did not seem that Greyback could pass the wards surrounding my land before, as we found his mark just outside of them. There are very old lingering spells preventing werewolf entry, laid down by several people over the years, but they are old and I am sure there are weaknesses in them.
It would be most reassuring if you could use them.

I did what any other well-meaning person would do, I think. I just wish I could have arrived sooner and helped more.
Professor Lupin has assured me that Draco is recovering from his injuries, which I am extremely thankful for.

There are not so many people in the world willing to risk their own safety to help another. You did all that you could.
Draco is certainly recovering well. If you wish to vist, you will be most welcome.
Yours sincerely,
Lucius Malfoy
