He looked at her with a good deal of shock. "You were in my closet?" he asked, stammering a bit. "That's private! What if..." he lowered his voice and stepped back to her. "What if I'd had something.. something... private in there?" He asked urgently, praying she didn't ask him to elaborate. Not that he did have anything of that nature in there, but she didn't know that.

He was flustered. How could he have been so out of it lately that he hadn't noticed someone...anyone in his closet, even Hermione? There used to be a time when he'd have had his wand out and ready at the first hint that anyone had touched his things. Now? Now he was too oblivious and exhausted to notice that his entire closet had been re-arranged. Was there an end in sight to all this study? He had no idea.

He sighed and shook his head, moving back towards Hermione. He knew she was just trying to take care of him, and it wasn't her fault that he was tired and irritable. "I'm sorry." he bit his lip. "Maybe we can talk... later?" he asked with a sheepish smile.

He sighed. Dammit, why do I have to be such a git? he wondered to himself. "Hermione, wait, please?" he stepped over to her once again and took the gift from her. "I'm so sorry. I'm just... I don't know what's wrong with me. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just meant that maybe we can talk about stuff later. I don't want to deal with things right now, that's all." he shrugged. "You look brilliant, by the way." he smiled a bit to her. He didn't know what else to say, and he hoped his gesture would be enough to make her feel a bit better at least.

Harry returned the hug with one arm while balancing the gift on the other. "Don't worry." he said, shaking his head. He smiled at her as he pulled away, but not before giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Just have fun. We should go out or something. I noticed you've been out of the flat only a bit more than I have lately. I think we both need some sun." he said with a small smile.
