The tiny bedsit in inner-city Bristol was in dire need of redecorating, with dated wallpaper and meagre furnishings, but everything was as clean and bright as it could be. The hob positively gleamed, there wasn't a speck of dust, and Anne clearly made the best with what she had. Her little flat had the living-cooking-dining area, a small bathroom, and a miniature bedroom. A Muggle flat converted into a wizarding one, it had a small fireplace linked to the Floo network, and electric lights and kettle. Said kettle had recently boiled; Anne and Caleb sat, one on the sofa, one on the chair, drinking cups of tea.

"So, where shall we begin?" Anne asked. Caleb was here so they could chat about their lives as werewolves, so that she could ask questions about their condition - basically, so that they could say all the things they were uncomfortable saying in front of Stella. Trust her as Caleb might, like her as Anne might, there were still things only they shared, things they didn't want her to know. Anne had promised herself that she would not let embarrassment or sad feelings interrupt the first frank talk about the worst parts of her life that she'd had. "I don't know ... how about when we were bitten? Or do werewolves particularly not talk about that?"
