Snorkack Migration
Warnings to AllTimothy Lovegood

As we all know, summer is the season for the migration of Snorkacks. These creatures are very curious, but also very dangerous. Snorkacks are extremely intelligent creatures known to Muggles as horse like creatures with horns protruding from their nose (versus the middle of their foreheads like unicorns). These horns are exceptionally sharp and will kill a man if he is not wary around these beasts. These creatures are very susceptible to the smell of peonies and are often the destroyers of many a beautiful summer flower bed. If you come across one of these creatures, you are advised to contact the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures for a timely removal that is safe for all.
And, in conclusion, any persons to come across such a creature, please submit a photograph and be credited with a publication in The Quibbler. Please send any and all news of encounters to Timothy Lovegood. Ottery St. Catchpole. (cont. B-7)

Minister of Magic Condones Murder without Investigation
Calls for Impeachment Pepper the Wizarding WorldMaria Terrae

On June 8th, 2001, Mandy Brocklehurt was ‘executed’ for the murder of Cormac McLaggen on June 6th, 2001. This execution is under severe criticism from the wizarding world. With a rash of werewolf killings over the last few years, including Gabrielle Delacour, Amorelle Weasley, and Raithen Cain, the latest victim, Gryffindor alumnus Cormac McLaggen was yet another shock to the world. Even more shocking though was the vicious and all too fast response of the Ministry in blaming Mandy Brocklehurst, a Ravenclaw alumnus. Brocklehurst was in the process of appealing for removal from the controversial Registry system due to lack of

involvement during the war. Truth be told, she was not even a werewolf during the majority of the war.

When contact was attempted with the Werewolf Capture Unit, our efforts were entirely ignored. Evidently, this department feels above answering to the press. Miss. Brocklehurt was taken into custody immediately and all legal rights were stripped from her. She was executed on the eighth after a thoroughly lacking investigation, though similar attacks have been attributed to one Fenrir Greyback. After the attack on Raithen Cain, Rudiger Shingleton stated, “We have every confidence that Greyback will be captured before the next full moon. This will be a lone occurrence.” That was in May of 2000. More then a year later, Greyback still goes uncaptured and innocents are punished for his crimes. As a matter of fact, Amorelle Weasley was killed on the next moon. The Ministry is completely lacking in follow through with thorough investigation of werewolf attacks. They would sooner execute those werewolves that have actively participated in the ridiculous Registry then to track down merciless serial killers.

Greyback’s crimes are well documented back to the time of the first war. He is the known attacker of Remus Lupin, the known murderer of Gabrielle Delacour, the known attacked of Bill Weasley, and the known accomplice of Lord Voldemort. From in depth investigation, this reporter has found that not only would Miss. Brocklehurst be unable to attack Mr. McLaggen like she did, but that the Ministry of Magic and the Werewolf Capture Unit were previously informed of these facts and chose to ignore them. Despite suspicion of Fenrir Greyback’s involvement with the murder, Mandy Brocklehurst was stripped of her life and Fenrir Greyback gained another victory due to the Ministry’s incompetance.

In addition, to add insult to injury, Miss. Brocklehurst was not even given the respect of a proper burial or obituary in the Daily Prophet. Cormac McLaggen was also done an incredible disservice with no proper follow-up investigation that would serve to vindicate Miss. Brocklehurst posthumously. This means that Mr. McLaggen’s true murderer is still on the loose and the Ministry is doing nothing to address this problem.

Several calls for Shingleton’s removal from office have been issued through public journal entries, editorials in the Daily Prophet, and public venues. Shingleton could not be reached for comment concerning his beliefs concerning the similarities between the murders of Amorelle Weasley, Raithen Cain, and Cormac McLaggen. He could also not be reached for response concerning the outcry for his impeachment or resignation from the office of Minister of Magic.

This issue causes serious concern to this reporter. It is far too reminiscent of the imprisonment of innocently accused witches and wizards during the second war. The Ministry is being sloppy in its investigations in order to do anything to appear pro-active in the press, which I use the term loosely. I would advise that the Ministry conduct a thorough manhunt for Fenrir Greyback, both to insure the safety of the Wizarding World and to see that his victims do not go without justice. How many more people will he kill before we as a society stand up and place the proper pressure on our government to see him pay for his crimes? How many more times do we have to see innocent victims names maimed by Rita Skeeter before we will

realize that the Daily Prophet lacks the integrity to insure completely factual reporting and is at the beck and call of the Ministry?

I am joining the call for Shingleton’s immediate dismissal or resignation from his office with a public apology for his lack of thorough and informed action on the judicial, social, and economic plans of our society. The service of public offices requires integrity, intelligence, and a pro-active attitude towards doing what is best for all citizens. Rudiger Shingleton obviously lacks in all these qualities and it is time for new leadership before our world is once again engulfed in prejudice and injustice.◘

Demonstration at Ministry Planned Luna Lovegood

A demonstration is planned for August 4th, 2001 on the steps of the Ministry of Magic. It is to bring to focus the serious lack of competent leadership within the Ministry with its current Minister of Magic. Expected to attend are several prominent members of the wizarding comm-unity. The event will be held on the steps of the Ministry entrance (Wizard’s side) from 4 PM until disbursement at sundown. This demonstration will directly address the death of Mandy Brocklehurst among other prominent issues in the community such as the registry and ineffectual and unequal law enforcement. Expect a full report on the demonstration in the next edition of the Quibbler as reporters and supporters will be on hand to show our support of the demonstrators. ◘
