Date: July 30th, 2001 Time: Afternoon Location: Luna's House, Ottery St. Catchpole. Characters Involved: Luna Lovegood and Harry Potter Rating: PG? ( Freedom of the Press means Freedom of Thought )
Harry apparated on the outskirts of Ottery St. Catchpole and walked through the village to Luna's odd, tower-like house. He had a piece of parchment stuck in his back pocket with his wand with some notes that could hopefully be organized into a professional spread for the Quibbler. He hadn't even considered trying to put anything about the protest in the Daily Prophet; he had way more respect for the integrity of the Quibbler, no matter how many Snorkack articles they ran.
Arriving on the front step, he knocked on the door and waited for Luna to let him in.
Luna pushed herself up from her desk, tucking her quill behind her ear. She knew that it was Harry, she was expecting him. But just in case, she double checked through the peeper. It wasn't quite the same as a peep-hole, it was a complicated mess of mirrorswith a fake swan at the other end that honked rudely at the person waiting by the door. She hadn't quite figured out how to tell her father that it was rather embarrassing, even as odd as they were
( ... )
Harry started slightly when the swan on the door honked at him loudly and unexpectedly, wondering if it was some sort of guardian and he had to give a password, like the gargoyle outside Dumbledore's--McGonagall's--office at Hogwarts. But then the door opened and Luna was there.
"Hey, Luna. Thanks for having me." He stepped inside and glanced around, unsurprised by the cluttered state of the house--it seemed like a Lovegood sort of dwelling. Following Luna to her desk, he perched on the edge of a chair to avoid dislodging any of the papers on the seat and looked bemusedly at the parchment-covered desk.
"Believe me, I've had enough stories about my love life," Harry said with a rueful grin and a roll of his eyes. "I was hoping you might print something about an event on Saturday...it's sort of, well, it's sort of a protest me and Ginny have been organizing, to call for Rudiger Shingleton's impeachment."
Well well well. How strange, sometimes she wondered if she and Harry shared a brain or something. "I've been calling for his impeachment myself." she said, handing him over the latest article copy for the Quibbler.
She let him read over it with a small smile, "I thought someone ought do something about that travesty."
It was almost beginning to feel like when she was in the DA again. She was sneaking around and trying to fight the good fight. She rubbed her shoulder lightly for a moment before looking at Harry. "So what do you think?"
Yes, Luna could be very serious when the case arose.

Harry read over the article, amazed to find that he and Luna were so in-synch. "Luna, this looks great," he said truthfully when he was done, handing it back. "I didn't know you wanted Shingleton out too, though I figured you'd be open to the idea."
He was glad to see that Luna was writing about something other than Crumple-Headed Snorkacks, at any rate.
"Could you maybe add an announcement about the protest?" Harry asked. "I wrote down the details..." He fished the piece of paper out of his pocket and added, "And of course, it'd be great to have you in attendence."

She took the piece of paper and looked over the details. "I want the world to be fair. Shingleton doesn't make it that way, so I'm all for his ousting." she said as she read, taking a pencil and rearranging some things on the paper and scribbling notes on the bottom.
"Of course, I'll be there. I'll add this at the end of my article or fit it in another column." she assured him as she scribbled more notes down before zinging the note off to her father after it had transformed into a paper airplane.
Harry nodded, understanding. People were fond of saying 'life isn't fair' while the more idealistic believed that it should be so. Harry tended to lean toward idealism--it wasn't realistic, but that didn't mean they shouldn't try to make life as fair as possible.
"Thanks, Luna, I appreciate it. In that case, I'll look forward to seeing you there."
She just nodded and began reworking his information into something useable. She wasn't sure if she was an idealist or a revolutionary, but she certainly wasn't what anyone would call normal. "Oh... and Harry... you will want to watch for those nargles, they can be pretty nasty now." she said, looking up, "If you like, I'll get you a cork necklace, it wards them away."
Arriving on the front step, he knocked on the door and waited for Luna to let him in.
