Millicent was habitually prompt, but arrived early for her luncheon with the doyenne of Wizarding society, Narcissa Malfoy. Under no circumstances was she inclined to keep her friend Narcissa waiting. Their friendship was not so longstanding that she would risk testing it with any unnecessary breach of courtesy. She was impeccably dressed, as usual, wearing a casual but quite attractive outfit that fit her figure and the occasion perfectly. She was hopeful that Narcissa might wish to indulge in another designer shopping spree in the near future. She was in the mood to splurge on herself now that the Potions N.E.W.T. was behind her. The examination yesterday had been as grueling as expected, but her preparation and execution had been quite satisfactory and she was confident of at least an “Exceeds Expectations” on the test.

She was feeling refreshed and confident today after months of rigorous and time-consuming studies spent in the cellar of her Knightsbridge House. Having this luncheon with Narcissa to look forward to was the first of many rewards she intended to reap from her hard work and planning.

Millicent obtained a prime but secluded table for their use and ordered something light to sip at as she waited for her friend, Mrs. Malfoy. She was hopeful that their time apart had not diminished their enjoyment of each other’s company. Enjoying Narcissa Malfoy’s company was something she enjoyed; something she looked forward to; something she felt she deserved.

She would have plastered her most pleasant smile upon her face for practice if she was given to smiling - which she most definitely was not. She would have failed that part of her schooling at The Salem Witches Institute, but she had successfully managed to rid herself of the smug sneer she had cultivated for non-Slytherins at Hogwarts, and her Deportment Professor recognized the value of her most pleasant expression and demeanor. It misled most into believing her a reasonable, even amenable witch. With Narcissa, at least, it was nearly true.
