While it wasn't exactly common knowledge that the Weasley twins employed at least one werewolf... It wasn't exactly a secret either. After all, Zak did little to hide the collar around his neck...
In light of the most recent
Prophet article... Well... there were more and more people coming into shop... Not to purchase anything, but to gawk, it seemed at Weasley Wizard Wheezes' "dangerous monster".
Abby was already in a mood, over the whole article. Even the twins were taking Glinda Goodfeather more seriously than they seemed to take anything. Abby and Zak... Everyone, in fact, was doing their best to ignore the increase in "window shoppers", the suspicious looks... The way people would shy away, if Zak tried to help them...
It was the last bit that was seriously starting to piss Henri off. After all, it wasn't as if that blasted article made Zak a different person. But now, even some of the shop's regular customers - those who'd known Zak had been working for the twins, for well over a year, were starting to give Zak the wide berth.
Henri let out an angry sigh, from behind the counter. Normally, working at the shop usually put Henri in a good mood. But today, all these extra people around... It just annoyed her.
"At least let me grab some of those," Abby laughed, as she came out of the back room. "You're going to run into something."
"Relax, Abby," Zak replied from behind a pile of boxes he was carrying. "I know where I'm going."
"Straight into a wall, that's where you're going," Abby lightly chastized, "shift to your right a bit. Honestly... I could have taken a few boxes."
"But then neither of us would know where we're going," Zak shot back.
Abby rolled her eyes and exchanged a look with Henri. Moments later, they'd each taken two boxes off Zak's hand. It wasn't much, but at least Zak could see where he was going.
"Why didn't you just shrink all this?" Henri asked, not bothering to hide her amusement.
"Where's the fun in that?" Zak countered. Now able to see, Zak moved easily to the corner of the shop he was restocking, with Abby bringing up the rear. Henri smiled after them and sent the boxes after the two.
If either Zak or Abby noticed that that particular section of the shop became suspiciously vacant, upon their arrival, neither made any indication. Instead, they set to work, leaving Henri to watch the floor.
At one point, Zak's head poked up over the shelves and Abby giggled. When Henri's attention returned to where the two were, she couldn't help smiling at the big, red clown nose stuck to Zak's face. Unfortunately, that didn't last long, as the next thing she saw were a pair of girls whispering and pointing at Zak, from a few aisles over.
That's it..., Henri thought, jumping off of her stool. She strode down the center aisle, pushing the girls aside, then made a B-line for where Zak was standing.
"You all want something to look at?" she called, casting an annoyed glance around the shop. "How about this..."
Without further warning, Henri grabbed Zak by the head - clown nose and all - and kissed him full, on the mouth. At first, Zak appeared to be too stunned to respond. His mouth went slack. Henri took advantage of the opening. Her tongue found his, for a moment, just as her arms wrapped around Zak's neck. That got a reaction... Zak's arms went lightly around Henri's waist and he began to kiss her back, if somewhat mechanically. Henri smiled. Her lips lingered on Zak's a moment longer, before she stepped away from him. From the look on his face, Henri guessed Zak was in shock. She smiled up at him then rounded on the rest of the shop.
"Now would I do that," she asked, "if I thought, for one second that Zak was a vicious monster?"
None of the people staring at them said a word. Some appeared shocked, others looked completely revolted. But at least they'd all shut up...
"All right Zak!" George called, from where he'd appeared, behind the counter.
Fred accompanied that with a wolf whistle. "That's our boy," he exclaimed proudly, "all grown up and... kissing girls."
In fact, a round of applause went up from all of the shop employees (and one or two patrons). Henri shot a somewhat nervous smile up at Zak, then made her way back to the counter.
Zak just stood dazed in that corner of the shop. The blush on his face matched the red ball clipped to his nose. Abby stepped in and waved a hand at Zak, to get his attention, but he didn't seem to notice.
"I think you broke him, Henri," Abby called, still trying to get Zak to wake up. Zak just stood there, even when Abby removed the nose from his face. Tori and Sasha came over to examine the resident werewolf.
"Definately broken," Tori nodded, with an amused grin on her face. "Abby, could you take him to the back and see if you can wake him up? Saski and I can finish up here."
Abby nodded and took Zak by the hand. After a bit of tugging, Abby finally got him walking, at least. She was too concerned with looking out for her best friend to notice that Henri still looked a bit nervous and, possibly, dazed herself.
