A Surprise Encounter

Severus was positively itching for the end of the summer term and a few student-free weeks. The alteration in his personal-life situation left him with a great many other - better things to be doing with his time than throttling valuable knowledge into unwilling idiots, thank you very much.
Nonetheless, he had a contract, and he did value the income. He would have to weather the final weeks as he had always done. Which meant his supplies would have to be restocked - a task Severus would not entrust to any house-elf.
Thus it was that he found himself in Diagon Alley going to his various apothecaries and suppliers in search of the ingredients he needed for the students to complete the more difficult assignments of the end of the year. Dressed in his teacher's robes, as always, Severus would have hexed anyone who dared to comment upon it, but he was being more attentive to certain areas of personal hygiene which had never bothered him before. A simple Impervious Charm kept the worst of the potions steam from clinging to his hair and the odour from his robes.
Little else had changed, however, and certainly not his demeanor. He was gratified when he was able to intimidate the last shopkeeper into reducing his price on fwooper feathers by such a significant amount.
He was not going 'soft'.
Striding down the pavement of the bustling alley, he consulted his list, almost becoming distracted enough to be caught unawares. Almost.
