QUIDDITCH SCHEDULE AND SEASON TICKETS ANNOUNCED!
by “Pitch” Malbum
The 2001 Quidditch Season for the British and Irish League is on its way! It’s been a long cold and lonely winter for fans of Professional Quidditch, but the Sport of Warlocks will soon be back to warm our hearts and give the Quidditch fans in the wizarding community - and honestly now, isn’t that everyone? - a reason to go outside and cheer for their favourite team! All the schedules for each of the teams in the British and Irish League can be found in this once a year special Sports Section Extra! Just touch your wand to the team’s name below and their schedule will appear!
Mr. Hassan Mostafa, Chairwizard of the International Association of Quidditch has announced some minor changes for the up-coming season. The most important change is that the League is returning to their former rules for match play with games now allowed to extend beyond sunset. Matches will be allowed to continue long into the night, but for matches held on succeeding days, the Snitch will be charmed to appear within 23 hours so the next match will not be delayed. Preston Gand, Spokeswizard for Q.U.A.C.K. (Quidditch United Association of the Concerned Keepers of Quidditch) assured this reporter that spectators wishing to find lodging accommodations for matches stretching into the following day or even longer would be assisted by League representatives at the various Pitches.
As usual, in compliance with the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, games will be scheduled during times least attractive to muggles. Continuing the wildly successful schedule from last year, all games this season will be played on successive afternoons each week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Matches are scheduled to start promptly at 1:00 P.M. in the afternoon. Witches and wizards are reminded that games will not be restarted for latecomers. With the rule changes, fans are reminded that sleeping attire must be brought with the spectators to the games as no re-entry to the Pitch will be allowed once play has begun!
The Daily Prophet will continue its award-wining Quidditch reporting for the new season. Each Thursday, readers will find the standings and point totals for their favorite teams, along with “Reports from the Pitch” by this very excited reporter, “Pitch” Malbum. It’s another season of Quidditch as only the Prophet can report it!
Season tickets will be available until May 20 and individual tickets from the 21st until the 31st. The popular portkey is available again for safe arrival and departure to games. Season ticket holders will receive this portkey with their tickets. Other ticket holders will need to obtain their portkey from the Ministry of Magic. Through special arrangements between Q.U.A.C.K. and The Daily Prophet, season tickets may be purchased simply by replying to this special section of the Daily Prophet or to the entries for the various team schedules. Purchasers need only indicate which team they wish to follow this season, the number of tickets and the level of view. Arrangements for the portkey will be forthcoming directly from the MoM.
