The string of old and well-known songs continued for the next twenty minutes. The set was comprised of the likes of Joyriders, Acrylic Afternoons, Happy Endings, and David's Last Summer. The audience seemed to receive the songs with familiar fervour, as they all were very liked, which at last set Myron at ease. Nobody was going to hate him. Or at least he hoped nobody would. By the end of the set, he felt like the world belonged to him only all over again.
"Thank you!" he exclaimed as the latest song was finished. "Thank you for your attention, for your support, for your love. We love you!" Myron was smiling. "This is a happy day- truly a Victory Day. Let us enjoy it and never forget how hard it was to achieve it. Thank you and we love you!"
And with one last breath caught, he announced the closing song to be performed: "I Love Life!"
Remus Lupin was a social creature, but only in small doses and this evening's dose was just about over. He'd enjoyed seeing his friends and dancing with them. But, he would be glad to get back to his quarters, kick off his shoes, throw on an old pair of denims and relax with the book on seventh century defense techniques he was currently reading.
Stepping off the dance floor once more, a flash of red hair caught his attention and he paused to speak with a familiar face before retreating to the shadows until the end of the evening.
"Molly! How lovely to see you. Is Arthur with you?"
Re: oh, 20:00isharthurs_mollyMarch 15 2007, 22:43:39 UTC
It took Molly a minute to recognize who was calling to her as she had been making her way towards the refreshments to grab something for her and Arthur, but she quickly turned around to greet Remus.
"It's nice to see you as well Remus. And yes, Arthur's here, though he could stand to be a better date. I think he's spent more time with other people than he has with me."
She looked over to where Arthur was sitting before turning her attention back to Remus and continuing.
"I have to have a serious talk with him one of these days, I think. It's quite all right if he wants to visit with others, but it'd be nice if he remembered I was around as well."
Remus caught the hint of irritation in the red-headed woman's tone as she pointed out her husband and smiled warmly at her.
"Well, Arthur's loss appears to be completely my gain. I was just thinking I needed to find a charming conversational companion to dance with -- and here you are!"
Offering an arm with a wink and a bow, he motioned with his other hand toward the dance floor.
"Allow me to steal you from your husband for a dance?"
Re: oh, 20:00isharthurs_mollyJune 15 2007, 00:56:47 UTC
Molly offered Remus a smile, taking his proffered arm, somewhat grateful that there were other gentlemen around eager to spend time with her, even when her husband didn't.
"Of course. What have you been up to lately?" She asked, allowing him to lead her onto the dance floor, the one place she wished she was spending more time this evening.

Turning her gently into place, Remus led them into the first few steps with another soft smile. He had always liked the Weasley matriarch, despite her match-making streak. Seeing as he need not worry over falling prey to that again now that he was courting Severus -- though doubtless Molly was as yet unaware of that fact -- he was able to relax in her presence in a way he had not felt able to for the years of the war

Molly couldn't seem to wipe the smile from her face as they danced, as it was nice to have a partner who knew the moves, and though Remus wasn't her husband, Molly had to admit he was more than a decent substitute. She nodded as he explained what his newest endeavors were, and though she had never been a professor, she could imagine the task that lay ahead of him.
"Yes, I can certainly understand that. Though I never experienced it too terribly when I was in school, changing professors for subjects can be jarring to the education process."
After her twirled her out and in(one of her favourite parts of dancing), she gave herself a minute to think before answering his question.
"Some days it seems way too big for just the two of us, and I do say, I need to find something to fill the lonely hours while Arthur's at the Ministry. I'm not used to having so many hours with nothing to do."
The music wasn't over, but Bill simply couldn't wait a moment longer. He was desperate, finger twitching in anticipating and heart racing. His mouth practically watered as he slunk outside. He knew he shouldn't and that it would end up ruining his life, but he didn't want to resist any longer.
Lighting the cigarette between his lips he inhaled as if it were his last breath. It only took a few moments to calm him, desire satisfied after only a few puffs.
Bill pulled his hair back from his face, fingers sifting through the long red strands. He sighed out a lungfull or smoke, gazing up into the star studded heavens, moon light making his eye twitch before he looked back at the ground.
Moonlight wasn't good for him, it made his scars stand out and made him feel strangely on edge. Hadn't it once been romantic? No, now it was the furthest thing from the possible.

As the last song played Fern slipped from the great hall. She hadn't expected to stay for the entire concert but couldn't make herself leave the dancefloor. It was by that song that the tiredness of her legs and pain in her feet got the better of her. Not even the thought of seeing a whole concert by The Weird Sister could get her to stay. It had already kept her there all evening

The voice startled him but when he realized who it was he managed to relax. "So did I, I'm testing the theory." Bill answered and he inhaled deeply then tilted his head back to blow smoke straight up and away, grey trails left in the crisp air.
"Have a nice night, kid?" He asked, his voice rather thick like it needed to be cleared. Something in him was darker now, as if the contemplation had dimmed his mood and even his smile had changed.
The full moon was close, he was jumpy and quick to anger and he knew there was another argument or two waiting for him at home. Which is why he was procrastinating, leant up against the Hogwarts castle and sneaking a smoke like he had in his school days.
"Everything will kill you." He held out the packet to her regardless (oh how if he saw his little sister touch one of these she'd be in so much trouble...) she was an adult, older than Fleur even and the only thing better than smoking alone, was smoking with someone else.
Re: 20:00ish.mostfalldownMarch 15 2007, 21:22:45 UTC
Fern's nose scrunched up, her skin creasing over the bridge, as she shook her head at his offer. "No, thank you. I've never picked up the habit." Her arms tightened around herself as the breeze picked up. It was the air that cut through her wavy hair - only the relics of the perfect curls remaining - and kissed the back of her neck that was colder than that on the arms or her legs.
"I did, have a lovely time, yes." Fern laughed softly, her attention focused on the ground for a moment as she nodded. "Except for the fact that I can't feel my feet any longer." She sighed softly though a smile begun to stretch her lips, the corners tugging upwards.
There was the word again. Kid. She thought about correcting him, or perhaps chiding him, call him "old man". She thought better of it though. If it hadn't disappeared already, it likely wasn't going to.
"And you? You didn't stay in your corner all night, did you?"
Bill pocketed the packet at her refusal, giving a hint of a smile at her obviously chilled state. "Here." He held out his jacket, even if it smelled strongly of smoke it was better than standing there shivering.
What was it with women wearing such insane shoes? He'd practically had to drag Tonks around the floor, her feet so damaged. Women, he'd never understand them.
"I managed to have another dance or two, thank you for showing me the way." Bill teased as he reached up to fasten the open buttons of his shirt, the breeze too cool to keep them hanging open.
Straightening up he dropped the last of his cigarette, stamping it into the dirt. He was feeling considerably more relaxed now, able to release the tension from his shoulders. "Would you like me to walk you down to the gates?"
Re: 20:00ish.mostfalldownMarch 15 2007, 23:24:22 UTC
Fern paused for a moment, looking between him and the jacket. She was hesitant to take it from him-- his only defense against the cold. Only after a moment, and the second uprising of the breeze, did she take it. She forgave the smokey smell as she wrapped it over her shoulders. As she tugged the heavy material around her she felt like a little girl in her mother's wardrobe. The jacket was almost as long as her dress!
"You welcome," she said softly, her smile growing. "And thank you-- for this." Her arm surrendered the confines of the jacket long enough to hold up one of the sleeves. She figured that if she just kept the jacket around her she could save herself the embarrassment of seeing just how big the jacket was on her.
"That would be really nice of you, but," she paused, shifting her weight between her feet, "It won't get you in more trouble, will it?"
Bill had been raised a gentleman and there was no way he'd let her stand there cold while he was wrapped in a warm jacket, no good man would. And if he'd thought she was small before! Fern looked positively miniscule in his jacket.
"No problem." Bill said quickly, not wanting to draw attention to the gesture.
Bloody hell, she was probably right. "I'll keep you three feet away at all times." Bill rolled his eyes as he pushed his hands into his pockets, picking up a very slow pace down towards the gates, she had heels on and her legs were shorter, slow was necessary. "And besides, it's the gentlemanly thing to do."
Fleur had male friends, her and Remus had tea and chatted in French and even that had stopped bothering him. "And unless you plan on jumping me, we're just walking."
Re: 20:00ish.mostfalldownMarch 16 2007, 03:43:15 UTC
Fern laughed softly as her fingers curled around the lapels of his jacket. "It's been a while since I've met a gentleman." She followed him without protest as she spoke. "At least, one that isn't drunk." Even though her legs were tired, and her feet hurt, she still kept up rather easily with Bill's pace.
"You can say it, by the way." She mentioned, looking up at him. In the cold moonlight, the vibrant red of his hair looked almost brown. "I feel like I'm a little girl in your jacket!" Fern laughed as she tugged the article of clothing closer. Even though it did smell like cigarette smoke, it was only on the outside. The lining still smelled like him. She could smell the gentle spicy scent as she turned her head to watch him, and her body kept the fabric of the lining warm.
"Don't go worryin', I didn't plan on bring a man home with me tonight." Her attention turned to road ahead of them quickly as she could feel her cheeks warm. "Especially the married sort."
"There are still a few out there and besides, not even I can be a gentleman all the time." There were times he was far from polite, he was actually downright rude, she'd just happened to catch him in a good mood and be on his good side
