Date: March 1st Time: Lateish? After the ministry dinner. Location: The Leaky Characters Involved: Ron and Ginny and OPEN. Rating: PG-13 for drinking and possible language and ranting.
Opening a shop on your birthday had its good points and its bad points. For example - Bad point: no birthday celebrations. Good point: no stupid Ministry anniversary celebrations.
Of course, the premises in Hogsmeade had been busy. Ron was surprised he had any feet left, he'd been running around on them all day. The surprise party had of course been a welcome surprise but at the same time Ron had been stood there just thinking of the paperwork he'd left to the last minute, and the fact that the stockroom was a tip. He'd looked ungrateful, which wasn't fair. He was grateful, but he'd been exhausted before today had even started, and now his hands were wrapped around a pint glass which was almost but not quite acting as a forehead rest
( ... )
Just the sight of him made this whole day seem a bit easier to take. Like all day had been leading up to this one, rewarding moment where she got to spend time with the brother she hardly saw. Not that he was special in that respect; the only brothers Ginny saw regularly was Fred and George.
Allow her to laugh at the prospect of Fred and George being quiet, relaxing company.
It took barely a second for her to be seated next to her brother, wrapping her arms around him tightly in an embarrassing display of affection as only a little sister would. She kissed his cheek for good measure and reiterated the phrase she had greeted him with all day long: "Happy Birthday!"
Settling into her seat, she added, "How's it feel to be old?" Her smile told him she was joking. Mostly.
