Hannah had been hanging tinsel around the living room humming carols quietly to herself when her father walked in. This was the first year since her mother died that Shawn had backed off the no magic restriction. Still, Hannah had been wary of using too much around him for fear it might send memories flooding back. She'd gotten so carried away with the freedom that decorating with magic gave that she hadn't even heard her father come in. He'd yelled at her for trying to take her mother's place in their traditions. She hadn't even thought as the tears started rolling down her face. She'd wanted to escape so she apparated out and into Diagon Alley without much more than a thought.
While she walked down the street her mind traced the years and the things her mum had always done. Her mind settled on a book she remembered from when she was little. It was about a little girl who found magic for the first time on Christmas Day. She made her way to Flourish and Blotts only to be told that they didn't carry children's books that hadn't been released in the last ten years and that what she was looking for was more likely to be found at Tresor Litterare.
As she made her way to the other end of the alley she really wished she had her jacket with her. Speeding up she ran the rest of the way to the other book store. Partly to warm up and partly to help with her escape back to childhood. When she pushed the door to the store open she noted a few people milling around. Glancing around she couldn't notice a definite order to the books though there might have actually been an order she simply wasn't aware of as she had never so much as looked into the front window of the shop. Finally, she decided to start on the wall just to the left of the door and scan through all the shelves until she found what she wanted.
She wasn't sure how long she'd been in the store when she noted that there were only a few minutes before closing. Of course, with it being the Christmas season there were still several customers grabbing their last minute itesm. However, she still had about a third of the store to go through. Perhaps she could use the line of about five people at the check out and the other two that seemed to still be browing to buy her a little more seach time.
