Spending the afternoon in the animal rescue center left a distinct smell on a person, or perhaps it was just Fleur. She'd spent a good portion of the afternoon soaking in the tub. In her home. With her own bath oils, the scent of roses filling the bathroom with a heady scent, though it seemed no matter how many times she scrubbed her skin she still smelled of dog, atleast to her own olfactory senses. She sighed as she sank deeper into the tub and grinned. She'd known she wanted to get Bill a puppy for his birthday for awhile, and had headed to the shelter just after lunch. Where she had fallen completely in love with an adorable husky pup, and was nearly out the door before coming across another, puppy looking much worse off with large sad eyes.
She had no idea why he had pulled at her heartstrings, but something about the slightly older dog had compelled her to put the more adorable puppy down. Reminding herself this was Bill's gift, not hers, and this dog was certainly more to Bill's style. Even though it certainly was not hers.
The picture she had sent that morning had been a small bit of foreshadowing except that where the pretty Frenchwoman had stood in the picture now sat the manky looking dog tied to the deck with a thin strip of deep red around its neck. A tag in a familiar flowing script read, Nom:.
The back door of the house led through the laundry to the kitchen where the smells of dinner were already wafting through the house and the meal was set upon the table. Though the dinner sat at an empty table, as well as a rather empty kitchen.
Though as Bill continued through the house, finding first the puppy, a rather large and excellent dinner, excellent being taken to mean it was not burnt, and if Bill continued further into his home he would find in his living room his dearest friend and his pretty wife quietly waiting for him. With one last surprise in her hands, that of a large cake bearing the words, Happy Birthday!
