A pay-off? June remembered Oliver saying he had something for Perry, the reason he was coming over that day, but... oh. He'd offered a reward for finding Wini, hadn't he? A large reward. She barely remembered it being mentioned, but as it hadn't yielded any results, she'd forgotten. Certainly she didn't think Perry had expected anything of the sort. As she'd noted before, Perry hadn't been participating in the search out of any concern for Oliver or for Winifred, but he hadn't been in it for money either, and considering his pride she thought she could see what had begun the squabble.

She was just trying to decide whether, having just walked in, she had any business getting involved in this, when Severus's pronoucement distracted her.

"What? But - no!" Obviously yes, he was just leaving, considering he'd practically plowed her over on his way out the door, but she couldn't help reacting with dismay. "Not yet, just a minute; let me just grab Wini's present from my room!" Not as though she couldn't perfectly well bring the creature over to Oliver's herself. Right away, even. But...

Maybe it was just that she didn't want a big deal made of it, but she found she'd much rather just give it to Oliver while he was here anyway.

Oliver felt terrible for barreling into June like that. "Sorry," he said quickly, "We're fine, right Win? Yeah, we're alright. Are you okay?" He knelt down to pick up her package and offered it to her as Snape handed Wini back the picture. The girl, while unharmed, was a bit overwhelmed but the quick succession of all these events of being picked up, carried off, bumped into and then dipped upside down while her dad picked up the package, and she pressed her head against her father's chest, not taking the picture and giving a very quiet whine.

"It's not a bloody pay off," Oliver said. June tended to keep things a little less heated between the two of them, but the slight improvement of his mood wasn't going to last with Snape picking a fight. "This isn't anything about guilt. It's about saying you're going to do something, and doing it. What's wrong with that?" He ignored the last bit, not wanting to get into that.

He whipped his head backwards June, taking deep breaths. That was right. She had made mention about a present a few days before. "Er, alright, I'll.. I'll go with you," he said quickly, "Wini and I." He wasn't going to stand in the entryway with Snape if he had any choice about it.

"Brilliant, come on," June replied quickly, hoping to head off any more bickering. She wasn't hesitant to have Oliver see her room; there wasn't anything lying about for her to be embarrassed over, after all, since she was careful not to leave anything lying out at all.

Leading the way past Perry into the back hallway, she took them through the first door into the small bedroom beyond. It was quite barren as bedrooms go; understandable since, to this particular resident, decoration would be something to knock over more than something to enjoy. Her journal had been tossed carelessly onto the perfunctorily-made bed, and a sweater was draped over the back of the desk chair. Besides those two things, the only 'clutter' in the room sat on the small desk.

With the ease of habit, June guided herself from door to bedpost to chair. She scarcely needed the 'landmarks' anymore, and brushed her fingertips over them more out of habit than anything. When she reached the desk, she half-turned, setting down her parcel beside the blue-tinted Unbreakable glass tank that sat there. Reaching inside, she gently located and lifted out a small custard-colored ball of fur, cradling it in both hands.

"This is it," she offered, feeling oddly nervous. Would Wini like it? Puffskeins were traditionally soothing pets, ideal for children, but what if it scared her? June ran her fingers through the fluffy fur and was rewarded with a soft, contented purring noise. "This is a Puffskein, Wini. It's for you to keep, if you want it."
