Status: Incomplete; invitation only

Harry woke up earlier than normal. It wasn't because he'd set an alarm or anything; he just sort of woke up. This was the morning that he and Ron were going to have their chat, the one that Harry absolutely was not looking forward to. He didn't want to start a row with Ron about being gone for so long and not owling; he himself was partially guilty, at least of the not owling bit. But he, Harry, wouldn't just disappear for three months without any communication with the outside world...would he?

After his and Ginny's conversation several days ago about taking mini-holidays together, he might just disappear for awhile, but not three months, unless something completely out of the ordinary happened. And then I would owl, Harry thought.

He needed to stop being so judgmental. If he didn't, Harry would automatically explode at Ron the moment he walked into the kitchen. Which I should do, Harry thought. Walk into the kitchen, not explode at Ron. He sat up in bed and slid his feet into his slippers. God, it was cold in the Phoenix today. Harry shivered and decided it was time for his bathrobe. He pulled it on and padded down the stairs to the kitchen, hearing his stomach rumble. He'd make breakfast for himself and Ron, so they'd have something to fall back on if the conversation got a little awkward. Which it most certainly will, Harry thought, a little glum about that fact.

Harry got to the kitchen and opened the fridge. He was craving fried eggs this morning, and as luck would have it, they had some eggs. He wasn't sure how good they would be, but it was worth a go. Harry didn't like cooking by magic; he thought the food lost some of its taste when he did it that way, so he pulled a frying pan out of a cupboard, put a chunk of butter in the pan to melt, and, after the butter had melted and coated the pan, Harry broke six eggs into the pan; three for Ron and three for him. Harry also started toasting bread; he could only eat his fried eggs on top of toast, letting the yolks soak the toast.

The eggs fried quickly, and Harry slid them onto the pieces of the toast as they were finished. He salted and peppered his own eggs, and took both plates to the table. Damn it, he thought. I forgot to start a pot of coffee. He did that quickly, figuring that the coffee would be brewed in about five minutes. Hopefully Ron would be down by then, or his eggs would be cold, and there were few foods grosser than cold eggs.
