Arriving back just in time for the Percy tsunami to hit the family, Ron hadn't really had chance to enjoy being home. Sure, Scotland had been a lot of fun, moving around from place to place, seeing new things, meeting new people, but after a time hotel rooms lost their appeal.
The knowledge of how far away Harry and Hermione were from him hadn't helped. He hadn't been separated from both of them for so long in quite a while. So it had been an added blow to come back to Hermione's empty room and Harry's, which might as well be the amount he'd seen his best friend this week.
Still an empty house did have its perks. Ron lounged in bed until midday with the Quidditch pages and then headed down to the kitchen in slouchy, baggy pyjama trousers and a pair of thick woollen socks, to stick his head in the fridge.
What do you know, Hermione had been right! There wasn't anything to eat - and Ron thanked God for his mum's leftovers, pulled out a parcel at random and began to eat.
