It had been a number of days since Percy had
spoken with Hannah Abbott, and there still was no indication that his family was coming for him. He wondered whether Miss Abbott had even
delivered his message or not. She would have had to be cruel not to do so, given the circumstances, so why hadn't his family tried to contact him, at the very least? Percy was slowly reaching the dreaded conclusion that they had not forgiven him for the sins of his past and that they continued to reject him.
While he was depressed about this prospect, Percy nevertheless plotted for a way to escape. It would be terribly difficult as weak as he was still feeling, without a wand, without even clothes and in unfamiliar territory. But the tests these Muggles were conducting on him were disturbing and none of the healers (no, the Muggles call them 'doctors') would discuss with him the possibility of being released. At least they'd unplugged him from some of the machines, and while they were giving him strange little pills to take, Percy only pretended to ingest them, taking them out of his mouth to flush them down the loo later.
Ordinarily, Percy would not resort to such resistant behaviour, but he reasoned that these were desperate circumstances.
