UNKNOWN GATE-CRASHER SPOILS PARTY!
Miss Pansy Parkinsons's Birthday Party Rudely Interrupted
by Janice McLaughlin ((ooc: Written by Alex))

The birthday party of the year ended in disarray last night after an unknown intruder interrupted the hostess’ final speech with a few choice words of his own.

Pansy Parkinson, daughter of Adolphus Parkinson, the renowned businessman, turned twenty-one on the day of her party and was taking the stage to thank her guests for their attendance. Dressed in a stunning green satin gown with a daring plunging neckline by an unknown designer, Miss Parkinson looked every inch the poised socialite and her position as the number one bachelorette seemed unassailable.

Her crowning moment was rudely cut short, however, when an anonymous man cut across her thank you address and, in a voice dripping with sarcasm, bade the crowd sing for the birthday girl before releasing several hundred copies of a vindictive leaflet into the audience.

Due to the ongoing Ministry investigation, the Daily Prophet is unable to reprint the document in its entirety. However, we can report that the author alleged the Parkinson family had long been allied with the Death Eaters and that even Miss Parkinson was heavily involved in the Dark Arts. It was even implied that her quite surprising tattoo was simply an effort to cover up the Dark Mark which disfigured her left forearm.

It is certainly true that Pansy is no stranger to these pages. Just a few months ago, she was incarcerated in Azkaban Prison for over three weeks for failing to sign up to the Registry of her own accord and since then, so a Ministry source tells us, she has been a constant “pain in the neck” - verbally abusing officials and failing to report to the Ministry at the appointed time after the Death Eater attack on the Leaky Cauldron which left one dead and another seriously ill.

She certainly didn’t wait to answer questions from this reporter after the incident at her party. A young man later identified as Peregrin Derrick met her on the stage and the two were seen departing together, hand-in-hand, shortly afterward, leaving Mr and Mrs Adolphus Parkinson to arrange the Ministry inquiry and say farewell to their daughter’s guests, an end to the evening which seemed rude to many of the guests.

We managed to catch up with Parvati Patil, herself one of the Top Ten Bachelorettes, just before we were herded from the ballrooms, three hours earlier than the allotted finishing time. Looking stunningly beautiful in a orange dress-robes, Miss Patil seemed quite as perturbed as we were by the events of the evening.

"The party was really lovely,” she said, “great decorations and space and everything. Pansy looked really good as well, you know, but did anyone expect anything else of her? As for those leaflets, well. I'm not quite sure what I make of those. It was a good time up until then and everyone got panicky.”

Panicky indeed, Miss Patil. Having seen the famously cool and collected Mrs Parkinson looking more than slightly ruffled by the events, one can only conclude that the Parkinson family have something to get panicky about.

We all know that the Parkinsons and the Malfoys run in the same social circles. They have to have something in common, if you know what I mean.

Improvements to the Registry System, among other proposals, already in the works

The Ministry of Magic released this official statement in regards to recent activities:

We are absolutely certain that no Registered individual was involved in the murderous attack of The Leaky Cauldron, the vandalism of Trésor Littéraire, and while this most recent event at the Parkinson Party is still under investigation, we are reasonably confident this was not the work of anyone on the Registry as well.

This situation leads us to re-evaluate the efficacy of the Registry, and also the man-power required to monitor the numerous citizens on it. We are presently in legislative discussion regarding the possibility of classifying Registered individuals according to degrees of risk in order to tighten security on those at higher risk, while reducing surveillance of others. There is even a proposal to remove some of the lowest-risk citizens altogether, in order to free up resources to improve monitoring.

The Ministry of Magic holds the safety and welfare of the Wizarding Community in highest priority.
