Just because he was doing his Quidditch playoffs didn't mean that Oliver was going to neglect his Gryffindors. Not a chance. Today he brought Wini along with him after the game. Parvati might have been willing to watch Wini, had he asked, but, in any case, as soon as he heard about the gossip going around about him (and Hermione, oh gods), he was glad that he had already determined to bring Wini along with himself and not Parvati as well.
Just as he had back when he taught kids to fly in Hogsmeade, Oliver cast a spell at a patch of grass near where he would be at the pitch. It was to keep Wini from being able to leave the circle. He left her with her toy broom, and a little bucket of crayons and parchment. Wini was content for over an hour, relaxing in the green grass and playing with her crayons, or trying to get on her broom to go higher and higher than she had gone before -- the toy broom had been well charmed, however, and she couldn't get herself up any higher than her toes dragging along the grass of the circle.
But Oliver had not been using this spell lately. Since Wini had been cared for by Parvati and Hermione, there had been no reason for him to practice. He had done a bad charm, a weak charm, and suddenly Wini realized that she was getting farther and farther away from her crayons -- farther and farther away from the pitch. She went on, her face serious as she 'zoomed' past groups of students who giggled at the toddler who looked as though she were going after a snitch. Chubby hands gripping the handle of the broom as though to keep herself from falling (though the very large invisble cushions took care of that), and she went on closer and closer to Hogwarts. She went around a side of the castle, realizing that she did not remember this place, before she lost control of her broom and hit the wall, causing the child to tumble off the low toy onto the grass. She didn't cry, but picked herself up, toddling around on her suddenly wobbly legs, and picked up her broom. Wini turned in a slow circle, starting to sniffle because she didn't recognize the place. Where was Dad?
"Da!" she cried, taking a few steps forward. "Da!"
He wasn't there, and neither was 'Vati. Or Hermeio'. She started to cry, dropping her broom and sitting down on the floor, lost and alone.
