Severus was putting books, potions ingredients and equipment away in his dungeon office and class room with more energy than was necessary for the task, but he was still exceedingly angry with McGonagall.

How dare she even suggest housing 'future' Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and - Merlin Forbid! GRYFFINDORS in HIS House?!?

'It will give all the students a more equal foundation upon which to build, Severus. More equal - and more understanding! It will teach them to appreciate the differences of each House as strengths, not failings. I am quite determined, and I will not let you out of your contract, so you had best get used to it.'

She had easily deflected the vial of pickled rat-spleens he had thrown at her.

However, that was yesterday, this was today. Today, the school 'officially' opened, and as she was quite right - he had signed a contract which he could not break for this, he had determined to play the part as he had always done.

Slytherin Head of House.

As such, in public at least, she had his complete 'support', and he was therefore present from the moment the doors opened for the public tours. Already dressed in his 'Slytherin Best', he wandered about the dungeons. From his office to class room to the Slytherin common room, he made himself 'visible' for anyone who wished to see him there, representative of his House and the school.

Not that he expected anyone to accost him.
