This Season has truly been one for the record books! The top three teams in the British and Irish Professional Quidditch League after nearly a full season of play are tied! The Wigtown Wanderers, Montrose Magpies and Puddlemere United finished up twelve weeks of Regular Season play with the exact same score! Next week’s matches will determine the final winner and the Playoff slots for all three teams, as well as the other fortunate teams that finish in the top eight!
With the Playoffs looming in less than a month, regular readers of The Daily Prophet will know that it’s crucial for their favourite team to finish in the final eight! The Caerphilly Catapults have already played their final matches and since their score landed them in eighth place this week, they are sure to be out of the Playoffs! The Chudley Cannons ended the week in ninth place this week, and stand the very best chance of overtaking the Catapults to earn a place in the Playoffs for the League Cup. While the teams below ninth are less likely to be in the running, this reporter has learned that there’s no percentage in making predictions for this Quidditch Season! With no Clean Sweeps on the Pitches this week, any team that manages to score one might just slide into a Playoff slot.
Those fans who crowded the Pitch this week at Yorkshire hoping to catch a glimpse of The Chosen One, Harry Potter, in his debut as Seeker for the Tuthill Tornados were disappointed. There was no sign of Potter either on the Pitch or in the stadium. As The Prophet reported earlier, Mr, Potter and his very good friend Mr. Draco Malfoy will both be playing in the Benefit Quidditch Exhibition Game as part of the Hogsmeade Carnival. No doubt fans will be packing the stands at the new Hogwarts Quidditch stadium to see if either player measures up to the task of Professional Quidditch.
