In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.

Rudiger Shingleton was not happy. He'd missed breakfast and now lunch too because of werewolves and dead red heads. Normally, he would have delegated this out to one of the many people willing to handle these kinds of things for him, but this was too important. This needed to be handled by his own hand and across his own desk.

After Auror Tonks had left, he'd set to work organizing a task force of sorts. Calling in Gawain Robbards first, Head of Department of Magical Law Enforcement and now the next link in the chian of this operation, he brought the man to date on the developments and suspicions concerning Greyback and the Weasley family (and if he happened to leave out Auror Tonks' as the originator of the theory, it could have just been a slip of the mind. It had been a busy day after all.) The Aurors assigned would be hand picked by Robbards, in addition to Auror Tonks, and they would report directly to him.

It was during that debriefing that Spinner's End was brought to the forefront. A house full of werewolves and one Potions Master who also happened to be a former Deatheater and the murder of Albus Dumbledore (pardon or no, he hadn't lost that distinction within the walls of the Ministry). Of course, that household would need surveillance protection as well. Didn't werewolves kill travel in packs? If Greyback was out there, couldn't it stand to reason that he'd already be using searching out others? Yes, protection was needed from for them as well.

Each Auror was then brought in on their own to be debriefed by Robbards and The Minister himself. Each was given an assignment - a name. They would follow guard their assignment with their lives....immediately after notifying the Ministry of Greyback's whereabouts should he appear. They were made clear, in no uncertain terms, that their charges were to remain out of harm's way to the best of human ability, but that Greyback's apprehension was also a priority...a very high priority.

After the last briefing, with a stomach growling, the Minister of Magic sat down to pen a large stack of letters. Well, two letters and then cast a duplication charm to copy the first letter the appropriate amount of times. But, by Merlin, charms were hard to cast on an empty stomach!

Dear Member of the Weasley Family,

I would like to express my deep, heart-felt condolences on the tragic loss of a member of your family and also assure you that we at the Ministry are doing everything in our power to apprehend young Miss Weasley's killer.

It has come to our attention, after careful speculation of the confidential details of this investigation, that your family could, theoretically, be a possible target of the werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. While the Registry has served to protect our community from future threats, it is the old threats, such as Fenrir Greyback, that require some extra effort on our part to insure the safety of such upstanding members of the community as your family.

It is in this effort that a Auror has been assigned to you as personal protection. He/she should arrive tomorrow morning and will accompany you in all tasks and journeys. In the consideration of your safety, the Auror should remian in your presence continually throughout this time, until the threat has been appropriately handled.

There will be no charge for these services, it is The Ministry's and my intention to provide the utmost in protection for our community. Below you will find the assigned Auror's name and badge number so that you may confirm his/her identity once they arrive in the morning.

Thank you,
Rudiger Shingleton
Minister of Magic

Dear Mr. Snape,

I will assume by now that you have read this morning's edition of The Daily Prophet or have been made aware of Fenrir Greyback's most recent victim.

Due to the condition of certain members of your household and your association with Greyback himself, the Ministry has determined that your home has a high probability of being a target for a future attack by Greyback. To avoid this, I have assigned an Auror to your household to serve as protection for you and your guests. He/she should arrive tomorrow morning and in the consideration of your household's safety, the Auror should remain in your home continually throughout this time, until the threat has been appropriately handled.
