One look at her watch told her she was indeed very near to being late for her lunch. June was to apparate outside of Gringotts and Fleur knew quite well that Remus and Severus would have her head were she not there to greet her. Not that Fleur didn't know June was a completely capable witch or that really she feared in anyway that harm would come to her, but the male residents of Spinner's End all seemed to overreact very easily when June's safety was called to concern ( ... )

June returned Fleur's hug warmly, pleased that the French girl felt comfortable enough with her to initiate such a gesture. Having always been an affectionate person by nature, her appreciation for hugs and other casual touches had only increased as she'd struggled to accustom herself to the loss of her sight. And of her current housemates, only Remus seemed to really welcome spontaneous gestures of affection. Zak had the adolescent boy's twitchy discomfort with the whole notion, and Perry was so standoffish most of the time - and Perry had nothing on Severus in that department. Though the ex-Head of Slytherin would take her arm if necessary to guide her, anything more personal or casual than that was, as a general rule, Right Out ( ... )

Fleur, being essentially French was accustomed to freely bestowing hugs on frieds and aquaintances. She had found in Britain that most were unaccustomed and unappreciative of the physical contact, which was why it pleased her when June hugged her back ( ... )

The guiding touch on her back didn't bother June at all. It was as good a way as any to prevent her from getting off course, and truthfully, she was relieved that Fleur had simply acted, instead of making a big awkward deal out of it. June was aware of her own disability (though she didn't like to think of it in those terms). She disliked, however, feeling like she was causing problems for people, making them struggle to find ways to compensate for her. Fleur's gesture felt easy, natural, and for that June was grateful ( ... )
