Sleep was no friend of his. Not at this hour. Before the sun even met halfway across the horizon for its daily greeting, Ron exited his bedroom with silenced footfalls. Last thing he needed was a frenzied Hermione questioning him on his whereabouts. Not that he was complaining about their new living arrangements.. but, he just needed some time to adjust ( ... )

Harry should have known it was Ron. The man practically had a intravenous feed to the coffee these days. A virtually empty coffee pot by the time Harry woke up was not an unfamiliar scene in the kitchen when he eventually made it down. It seemed he was early enough this morning to catch the redhead in the act. And really, Harry was happy about that. Ron had been a rare sight these days and while Hermione's presence was a blessing in most every case, there were times you really needed a bloke as a best mate ( ... )

At this hour of the morning, Ron couldn't care less how he looked. Or how much of a fool he was probably making himself out to be. The final fact about this whole ordeal could be stated in one simple statement. Harry, Holier-Than-Thou, Potter decided to be a bleedin' wanker and break his sister's heart. And someone had to pay a heavy price to get it all fixed. But first thing's first! Ron poured out a generous amount of coffee into his mug, but slammed the pot back into its place. There! That oughtta' put enough emphasis to what he felt ( ... )

Nope. The storm hit and in full force too. Harry's head fell against his chest, hand still holding the icebox door open. He didn't want to deal with this. Not with Draco, not with Ginny, and sure as hell not with Ron. There was a reason why he hadn't said anything to anyone...OK, a few reasons, but not the least of which was the number of Weasley tempers involved. He was beginning to feel lucky that no red headed tempests had struck him for a bit now, not since the last row with GInny, but it looked like luck had run out on him.

He closed the door slowly, turning at a speed to match, in just enough time to see Ron reach for one of mugs Seamus had given to the residents of The Phoenix. His brow furrowed and then lowered over narrowed green eyes beneath as Ron started talking. Once again the lanky arse was jumping to conclusions, completely wrong conclusions and Harry wasn't in the mood to straighten him out ( ... )

When someone slips down to their kitchen, searching out a cup of tea and piece of toast, the last thing you expect to see is your two best friends, screaming abuse at one another. It took Hermione a few moments to decide if what she was seeing was even real, or if it was a sick creation of her own mind ( ... )

His nails buried themselves deep into both palms with enough pressure to break through skin. The heat flushed Ron's cheeks, but he wasn't about to step down just yet. So, this was the kind of game Harry was playing at, eh? Mistaking him for a fool throughout the duration of their friendship. Well, no more! Nostrils flared while his jaw clenched even tighter. The man standing before him had changed from friend to foe in a matter of mere seconds. And over a reason that couldn't be discussed. However, things probably turned for the worse..

"Is that right, Potter?" He countered demandingly, taking a rather cheeky tone. "Do you take my family for a bunch of dunderheaded freaks when all we want is the best for each other? How would you know anyway? It's not as though you had a family to begin with." A momentary pang of complete guilt coursed through him the very second those words left his mouth. That wasn't true, not in the slightest bit. His own Mother adored Harry as though he was her seventh son. And had things gone according to plan, ( ... )

They'd fought before. They'd even exchanged harsh words that neither meant. Most of the time it was in the form of names and insults. Grudges lasted for a bit and then were forgotten with a shrug and a grunt and a few chocolate frogs. Really, things hadn't changed much in nine years, regardless of whether they were fighting over a game of wizard chess or Harry facing Voldemort on his own.

But this...this wasn't just name calling and low blows. This went too far. Harry's face contorted, brow furrowed and angry sneer dipping into a hurt frown. For a moment. Then the anger was back and in full force ( ... )

Hermione watched Harry move forward and although her reactions weren’t as good as they should have been, she was at his side in only a moment, working her way in between the two boys. Something inside insisted they’d be less likely to throw a punch if there was a risk of it hitting her, the other part was just as eager to take a blow if it meant an end to their argument. Her whole body shook with rage as she looked between them, her anger flowing freely through the air towards the red head she so wished she could slap ( ... )
