>but if non-vegetarianism meant hatred for animals does an analogy for vegetarianism hold?
if. it doesn't, but then can we say that as a sweeping statement?
can we even make sweeping general statements about humane-ness?

>case 1 : apart from the physical pain, do i/u feel anything which disturbs?
case 1.1: assuming we feel bad , is it the destruction of the crop or is it the animal?
case 1.1.1: crop : is it hurting the plants ? is it hurting the farmers ? is it just messing the field??
case 1.1.2:the beast: is it killing a life or is it losing your food???

>when the same me/u are in a butcher shop.....do we become less humane.....NO...the hunger and the carnal feel of a long relished meal overpowers......or it simply doesnt matter...why?do u feel less humane? is NO the answer to your question? or are u generalising again ( ... )

i didnot make any sweeping statement...i just pointed a statement which is generally made in such discussions....nd my statement is ambiguous, doesnt take my approval on d statemnt...infact i nullified the misconception with d analogy!

i cannot put dis in d right words but the human apetite in a way turns animal like when let loose....dats y i quoted it as carnal...

though i dint want to come to dis..but if u talk about scientific studies..

I totally agree about the carnal thingy. We humans live a luxurious life. We hardly ever scathe the surface of the carnal hunger.

Let us say, we are in the wild and we hunt real animals (instead of software bugs!) like the good old cave men. After 5 days of 'trying to hunt' and not having found food... hunger literally kills. And this body will go to any extent to keep itself alive. Such are the instincts.

Every reward system that we have (food, sex, etc.,.) must be fed to or it starts turning us into beasts that will go get it, come what may. One of my friends who had 'renounced everything' and went to an ashram for doing meditation for four years has stories to tell about how some people went neurotic because of 'controlling' their hunger and sexual desires. Maybe when the neurosis happens 'randomly' in one specific direction, they call it "Nirvana"?

btw, this person I'm talking about is Harmanjit who also happened to play a much smaller role as my 'manager' ;) He even introduced me to Actual Freedom which I'm sincerely ( ... )
