Cooking Continued

To continue yesterday's thoughts.....
I just wanted to reiterate how much I am enjoying cooking and stocking my herb and spice cabinet. May I tell you what I have thus far? We'll stick to my more interesting finds and naturally assume I have the staples such as basil, oregano, cinnamon, etc.

-whole cloves
-whole peppercorns
-green cardamom pods
-whole cardamom seeds
-cayenne pepper (red pepper, and lots of it)
-chili powder
-curry powder
-garam masala
-cumin
-cumin seeds
-ginger powder
-turmeric
-fennel seeds (mmmmm)
-fenugreek seeds (yeah... I had to look this one up)
-bay leaves
-ground coriander
-coriander seed (both much different than fresh coriander or cilantro as we often call it)
-nutmeg
-ground mustard
-celery seed
-cinnamon sticks too

Anyway.... the list goes on. If you haven't already guessed, we love Indian, Asian, and Middle Eastern Cuisine, (Greek too!!!!) The only things I am having trouble tracking down are curry leaves and asafoitida or something like that.... I'm not even sure what it is. It is so much fun to experiment with different spices though, and I have pretty much decided that other than Cliff's Sloppy Joes and Hebrew National hot dogs, American cuisine is sorely lacking in both the realm of excitement and flavor.
