Hey, look! I didn't get beaten by dolphins or consumed by my hair or gently but firmly kicked by a giraffe. In fact, even though I have been a very, very bad girl about updating, I've still been doing lots of pretty things. Here's one:
It's a fascinator made of felt and sewn on an elastic headband. I was inspired by
these, which are way more awesome, but this was my first one and I used only the felt I already had on hand, which was somewhat limiting. (Also, she has real honest-to-goodness felt, whereas I had only craft felt. Everything looks better when made with better materials.)
Here's what it looks like on:
(It's very hard to take a picture of yourself from that angle!)
I sketched out a rough idea at work yesterday, then came home and cut the felt pieces. I cleaned up and moped around and drank a beer and helped make dinner, and then we watched Frontier House and I stitched the pieces together. The layers give it a nice thick quilted effect, and I liked that the stitching didn't all have to be exactly perfect.
It's a bird to live in my birds'-nest hair!
