Friend In Need

Well, last night was fun, I haven't had fun in a VERY long time but I did and I have to say thanks to Ryan for that. He's a really nice guy when he isn't tripping over potholes, but that's part of his charm, had me in hysterics last night that's for sure, luckily enough, neither one of us drank enough to get a hangover so I feel alive and ready to go. I am supposed to be helping him with training today, learning how to beat up inanimate objects instead of them, beating him up, I even got some slaying done last night, saved a girl from having her neck ripped open which was good, never leave home without a stake, it's a motto to live by, that's for sure.

Kind of pleased with myself, used what Giles told me to my advantage and it worked a charm. I hear Buffy's not too well, and my greatest of sympathies to her and I hope she feels better soon! All these distractions have helped keep my mind off other things which had been depressing me towards the beginning of the week, so yes, very grateful to my friends for just being there when I needed them, even if they didn't know, I needed them.

The Slayer healing factor was really amazing. Her ribs had healed almost completely overnight and her head felt fine. She still sported angry bruises on her jaw and midsection, but they had already begun to yellow, a sure sign of healing. Jamie had decided to get in a warm-up session in the gym, thinking it would prepare her for whatever McKenna had in mind. She had just finished a nice, long run on the treadmill.

Kris after getting the message back from Jamie, had dragged her ass from bed, pulled on some slacks and a vest before trailing downstairs to enter the gym. Running her eyes over the place, she smiled as they came to rest on Jamie. Wandering over, she smirked," Hey there."

Jamie smiled sheepishly at Kris. "So I guess you heard, huh?"

" Oh yeah, news travels fast around this place." She reached up, cupping Jamie's chin in her hands before turning the other girl's head so she could inspect the bruising," Well, on the bright side, you won't look like Rocky by tomorrow morning." She joked with a small smile.

Jamie laughed and sat down on a near by weight bench. "Yeah. My ribs are already healed. I only wish I looked like Rocky. I look more like the side of beef that he beat up."

Kris chuckled gently, taking a seat beside her," A cute side of beef though, gotta remember that important part." She gave the other girl, a serious nod and a grin before she asked," What happened, Jamie?" Her eyes rested on Jamie's face and concern was very apparent in her expression.

"Ugh...I've been trying to figure that out since last night, Kris." She took a sip of water and continued. "I was working out, Bianca came in. We had a difference of opinion about being a slayer. She's not really receptive to the whole thing, which I understand. She made fun of me for being friendly around here and trying to study vamps. I really thought it was over, followed her into the locker room to get my stuff and whamo, she threw me into the lockers."

"My fault, really."

"I should have just ignored her. But I kind of snapped when she threw me around."

" Ouch." Kris winced gently in sympathy before she shook her head," Sometimes, people just don't get on, no idea why but there's just something that keeps clashing, no matter what we do." She put her arm around Jamie, giving her a gentle squeeze." It's alright to get angry, we all do, I know I do. Emotions, we can't control them and this girl pushed your buttons literally, I don't know what her deal is and I'm not going to make any judgements on her until I meet her myself but until then, you look out for yourself okay, and if needs be, come find me, okay?"

Jamie smiled and nodded. "I will, but it won't happen again. I won't let it and apparently, McKenna won't either. The fallout from this is that she's my new Watcher. She and Faith broke it up and they were pretty mad." Jamie sighed and looked up at the ceiling. "The worst part is that I feel like I let someone down, you know? I don't normally wig out and go all "Jerry Springer" like that."

" Yeah I know, but sometimes, we have to stand up for ourselves even if it isn't the best way to go about it." Kris remarked, rubbing Jamie's arm," And look, bright side, you have a Watcher."

"yes, I suppose that's one way to look at. I am glad to start the training. I'm going to shut up and try extra hard. And Bianca will never again get the satisfaction of baiting me into a fight. At least not outside of the sparring ring."

" Good thinking, batman." Kris teased with a soft smile, giving the other girl a squeeze again," It's usally more satisfying kicking ass in the sparring ring anyhow."

"Well, I wouldn't know." Jamie laughed. "I've been the one getting my ass kicked. Hopefully, that's going to change very soon." She looked at her watch. "Speaking of which, my first session with McKenna is in a few minutes."

" I'd better let you get to it." Kris winked, before hopping up to her feet," You're going to do fine, just relax and go with the flow. Overthinking things tends to make them worse."

Jamie grabbed her stuff and followed Kris out of the gym. "Yeah. I do tend to do that. If McKenna doesn't kill me, maybe we can do dinner or something later?"

" Dinner sounds good." Kris said with a smile, sliding her hands into the pockets of her trousers.

"Excellent!" Jamie pushed the elevator buttons and waited for the lift. "Hey, where's the Weapons Room at? That's where she wants to start."

Kris looked thoughtful for a moment." Fifth floor if I'm not mistaken, next to the stairs." She nodded her head.

Jamie punched the button for 5. The elevator stopped there. She exhaled and squared her shoulders before stepping off. "Well, here goes nothing. If I don't make it through this, you guys can divide up my stuff"

" Tsk tsk, no thinking like that." Kris muttered with a smirk and a wag of her finger," Though..do I get...your stereo?" She grinned in a teasing manner before chuckling," Seriously though, you'll be fine."

Jamie smiled and waved as she exited. "I hope so. Later, Kris, and thanks for the pep talk. I needed it."

" Anytime, anytime." Kris said with a smile, giving Jamie a wave back before she simply rested back into the elevator, punching the number for floor 7.

Poor girl took a real beating and as much as that angers me and worries me, I'm not passing judgement until I get to meet this Bianca for myself. Some people just don't mesh, doesn't neccessarily mean, the person is the same way with others as they are with that one person which unfortunately for Jamie, appears to be her at the moment. I've told her if she needs me, to just come find me, and I'll take care of it, but I'm hoping it won't come to that, especially as she now has herself a Watcher, and one which is capable of keeping people in check.

PRIVATE : I'm worried about Hayden, I know he told me he had stuff to do but I can't help but get a bad feeling about this whole situation. I can't explain it, something is off, I know it, maybe I should check on him....but then again, he might not want that, I just don't know what to do. Have I done something to make him this way? Or is he not telling me something? Which I already suspect as it is, but if he won't tell me, I'm not going to force him, I just don't know what to do..

-----------------------

I'd better go, I need to help Ryan perfect that "flailing Watcher" routine of his.
