-29 days until I leave for Canada- vacation at the cottage
-38 days until I turn 18.
-43 days until I'm at UConn
Wow. It's hard to believe how fast the days are flying by. Lately it's been a toss up between wanting to enjoy more time with my friends...getting in a few last, great memories, and wishing the time would fly by faster and just be Aug. 11th already.
Once that hits, my chain of events goes into full throttle. I'll be driving to Canada to stay for a little over a week , coming home on the 20th, upon which I will be turning 18 and 5 days later I'll be moving into my dorm room....bing, bang, boom.
Now that I think about it, I guess I'll have to say a few goodbyes before I leave for Canada because by the time I get back a couple people will already have left for school. That's a lot sooner than I expected.... : (
I feel like I'm just killing time now until I leave for college and it seems like everyone else feels like that to. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm seeing and feeling the separation already. Even though people are all still here for the most part, they don't seem to be, really, if you know what I mean. People are working and going on vacations and schedules in general can get crazy. Is it just me or have you noticed this too?
Do you think people are going out of there way not to be close, not to start anything with anyone and really not putting any effort forth, so as to avoid the pain when we go to college. Or do you think it's more of a "whatever" attitude?.... you know, like "what will be, will be". I understand it. But, we can still stay in touch with anyone while making new friends in college too. I think "wanting to" is the issue for most people.... hmmm
Friendships are important...old and new and each have their own unique part in and impact on your life. Think about it. Every one person that you have ever come in contact with has had some effect on you or your life...directly or indirectly.
You choose to keep in touch with who you want to obviously. But I also believe that fate has a lot to do with who comes in and out of our lives. But friendships and relationships, all kinds, take some work, or shall I say, effort.... at least the ones that matter.
Here's to friends .... old and new!

two quotes that I thought were appropriate:
"If there's anything I've learned in life, it's to tell someone how much you care about them while they're around, because you really never know when they're going to be gone." (anonymous, meaning I don't remember who said it)
Love cannot endure indifference. It needs to be wanted. Like a lamp, it needs to be fed out of the oil of another's heart, or its flame burns low.
~ Henry Ward Beecher

P.S.
If you're reading this, please do me a favor, comment with the date that you're leaving for college. Thanks and good night.
