Yeah, there's the if definitely. My main skepticism with that was the depictions of him borrowed from paganism (especially Apollo), but it seems that had more to do with Christianity being an 'underground' religion not sanctioned by the state, and 'disguising' him as Apollo was a way to have your Christian art out in the open and not get in trouble. His existence wouldn't mean he was the son of God either way.
