I LOVE this entry! I have armpit hair! and i love it; it cetainly makes me feel more woman. I wasn't too sure about it at first, because i had previously shaved; but my boyfriend asked me to grow it, so i did! and will never go back. I have to admit however i do shave me legs... but it's just because i prefer it like that, (don't know why) but i have absolutely no problem with women with leg hair; good for them!
I agree with eveything you say apart from the does not smell more! Hair does make you smell more, but it doesn't matter!Hair retains more smell than skin and that is why I shave under my arms becase I don't like the smells hairy underarms retain ,like sweat. I think it is wonderful when women choose to do what they want with their bodies, and I agree that it should be up to the person involved and people should never comment on another persons choices about hair in a nasty way, as it is up to them. Jo, above is my best friend and I think whatever she does she is beautiful and I think the bravery she has had is wonderful! So go you! And smiles x
ah i can totally relate i'm naturally not 'feminine' if you will lol but due to the pressure i caved horribly and started shaving early on to be more 'beautiful' i do regret shaving at an early age and even more so my reasons for it.. it wasn't for me it was for others.
i hate the pressure we have to be thin, hairless, and all these other unfair traits but i have to admit i've succombed to the pressure and have done things to look quote 'beautiful' that i do regret
this journal entry however enlightens me and somehow touches some core issues in my heart, i think thats true and thank you for sharing these thoughts
That is great! I hope it catches on. It's fine if someone wants to shave their hair regardless where they are shaving, but I think it's terrible that some people feel compelled to shave. Man have the same problem with having to shave their faces due to social expectation. But many studies show that man with facial hair are perceived as less trustworthy. There are also reasons why women shave. Hairy women have more testosterone in their system and on average are not as submissive to their males. This is why males subconsciously select for a lack of hair and associate it with desirable femininity. For women, thicker, denser and blacker hair develops with age, as well. Shaving hair therefore also shaves years, making older females more attractive to males who are looking for younger partners. If you admire a woman for not shaving (which I do), admire her male partner for accepting it, as well.
hmm good way to look at it. where did you find out that info? i do admire my husband for that. although.. he doesnt like my hair legs. thanks for commenting.
