pixie dust and plastic beer cups

it's been about three months now since i left disney... and i definitely have mixed feelings about it in retrospect. there's alot of things i miss about it, and alot that i'm glad to be rid of.

Things I Miss:
- being in the same country as, and way closer to my amazing girlfriend (this one is definitely what i miss the most)
- independence
- the good friends I had to say goodbye to every few months
- being able to go to the disney parks whenever I wanted *for free!*
- a job that paid $1k+/week in tips (in delicious US dollars)
- cheddar cheese soup, and maple barbecue filets with cream cheese mashed potatoes
- the most interesting, amazing, fun group of canadians i've ever had occasion to be a part of
- having a bedroom and bathroom to myself for about 6 months
- being able to wear t-shirts almost all winter
- CAST DISCOUNTS AND SALES!!
- my personnel # (00119240) and my POS login (23946)
- all the coke i could drink while i worked
- having mickey tell me "thank you for helping make the magic!" at the end of every shift
- tonnes of amazing restaurants of any cuisine you could ever want (and having the money to afford them)
- always having someone to go out with you to those restaurants, or even just for a drink (or five)
- $12 cases of beer
- american junk food, especially flamin' hot cheetos and jujy fruits
- No Ma'am (Canadian boys drinking club), quarters, flip cup, power hours
- not catching shit for staying up 'till 4-5 in the morning, and sleeping past noon
- having guests compliment me on my service, and having them leave satisfied with their meal
- walking around the world showcase or heading to japan for tempura on my lunch breaks
- fireworks every night

Things I Don't Miss:
- having to say goodbye to good friends every few months
- having to share a fridge/laundry facilities with 2-3 other people, and having them eat my fucking food/dump my fucking laundry on the floor
- having to share a bedroom and bathroom with another person for the *other* 6 months
- being expected to attend every pavilion function, even when they end up being 4-5 nights a week
- my room and clothes constantly smelling like whatever curry dish my Indian roommate made the night before
- disgusting piles of dishes filling up the sink, when there's a fucking dishwasher two feet away
- getting random bits of food stuck to my feet whenever i went into the kitchen of my apartment because my roommates were all slobs *shudder*
- the dryer that took about 3 full cycles to actually dry anything
- having to shave every day i worked, and not being allowed to dye my hair all year so i fit into the "disney look"
- sweating my nutsack off within 30 seconds of being outside in the summer
- ignorant norwegians, germans, and french walking/driving around the housing complex completely wrecked at all hours of the night/early morning yelling at the top of their lungs
- giuseppe, my asshole italian roommate for three months
- certain of my co-workers in the canadian pavilion, whose reasons for being there (let alone disney's reasons for hiring them) i will never understand
- asshole guests that aren't satisfied with their meals or service no matter what lengths you go to to accomodate them
- shitty tippers, especially when they seemed satisfied
- working 6 days a week, 50-60 hours/week because we were seriously understaffed at times (and there was no need for us to be)
- no recycling program whatsoever

there's not really anything i can say to sum it all up... i guess all that'll have to do. at very least, it gives you a little bit of an overview of what my experience was there... although the experience can be very much whatever you want it to be.

nostalgia, walt disney world, international program, u.s.
