End-Of-Year Memes

Dec 30, 2006 19:14

It's not Hogmanay til tomorrow, but whatever. I'm gonna do these now and get it outta the way. XD

January 2006: First Meme of 2006. Ahh... doesn't that sound nice? (I think I'd just written a massive diatrabe about HOW MUCH I DESPISED 2005 or something the day before, heh.)

Febuary: If Boris Johnson becomes rector for Edinburgh University after I decide to go to York I will weep. Weep, I say. (AHAHAHAHA well turns out it doesn't matter either way. And I have no idea if he did, in case anyone's interested.)

March: ME: *thinks* Right, I really need to sort this school situation out. I'll go and see Mr A.

April: ME: Guess what? I fixed my own tumble drier last night!

May: I'm bloody knackered. It's amazing the ends to which teenage defiance can be directed.

June: London was nice.

July: Well, the bruv is away to Greece for two weeks, whoo!

August: Stolen from princessjessica.

September: Whee! Spent the day rehearsing in Chatlerhault and Craignethan.

October: So.

November: Yeah. So it's November. ^_^ (I AM SO PROFOUND.)

December: I shouldn't really complain about work, considering I spent several hours helping to construct gingerbread houses for money.

Wow my life is exciting.

Before I start this one, I have to mention that this year has felt like such a weird non-year, and the year before was so RIDICULOUSLY horrendeous that I'm finding it difficult to actually remember what DID happen this year. Part of me wants to define this year as a year of not-doing, but that's not entirely true.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?:
I started RPing online. I finished a fic longer than a drabble. I got a full-time job. I bought something online. I got put on meds. I took myself off meds.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I can't remember if I even made resolutions. I might make a few this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. WHICH WAS NICE.

5. What countries did you visit?
Just England. Hopefully this year I'll be going to Japan and the US, though.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Motivation? Oh, I know! A BOOKCASE.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Like I said, this year was really bizarre and fluid. I have no idea about dates. Being put on meds was an interesting experience, and finding out that there are people out there who like my writing kicked ass... Um. Steven going away. The Hired Man.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably the thing of this year that I'm most proud of is doing The Hired Man - the war song in particular. I wish I could show you guys, seriously. I had no idea my voice could do that, and I think I acted really well. That's the thing I'll probably remember most. And considering I spent the first couple of months' rehearsal as a total, non-coping mess...

9. What was your biggest failure?
I guess not going to university was a failure, and wandering through the majority of the year as a zombie. But... eh. I'm hoping this year was a recovery-year. I'm getting better.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really. Couple of asthma attacks but nothing big.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My new computer. XD I honestly can't think of anything else.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Scary-Mentor-sama Joan's. She got me to the doctor when I needed it, she made sure I was DOING something and didn't kick me out of the show even when it really seemed like I really wasn't going to be able to manage it, and then she got me a job. SO MUCH LUFF FOR HER.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Mine.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Um... well, ever since I started working a ridiculous amount of it has gone on getting pizzas delivered and taking taxis when I'm late. But books, comics and BPAL come close too.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I can't think of any particular events. I made a huge deal about the Hogfather movie, and I loved it, so I guess that might be my answer but compared to how excited I used to get about stuff... eh.

16. What songs will always remind you of 2006?
Ahahahaha SO MANY. I have been introduced to so much new music this year. It's like... a year of MUSICAL AWAKENING. I might not know til this time next year, though - like it's now really clear to me that I Need A Hero was a major 2005 song because we all used to run about singing it at the top of our lungs. Good times, man. XD So... for the singing-out-loud-with-others factor, I guess Poison by Groove Coverage. And of course EVERYTHING from the Hired Man. Especially the Work Song. And Who Will You Marry. And the War Song. And Say Farewell. And...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i) happier or sadder?
I honestly don't know. Still pretty wounded.
ii) thinner or fatter?
About the same, probably.
iii) richer or poorer?
Richer. I have a job and I am VERY GOOD at saving money.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Emoing.

20. How will you be spending the holidays?
RPing, probably.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Ahahaha NO. Except with Teatime/Nny, maybe.

23. How many one night stands?
Zilch. Still a virgin.

24. What were your favorite TV programs?
Not that I watched it on TV, but my favourite box set was probably Scrubs.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not that I can think of.

26. What was the best book you read?
OH GOD. That's difficult. I discovered the Sandman comics this year, they're really awesome, and the Dexter books the other day, and... man this is difficult. Hogfather, of course. Night Watch. The No Man's Land Batman comics.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
atalantapendrag XD

28. What did you want and get?
A job. Nice reviews. XD

29. What did you want and not get?
A kitten. ;____;

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
V For Vendetta! Battle Royale! Quills!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I had folks come up and we watched Fellowship of the Ring. .D There was much snuggling.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
I'm not sure. :-/ Probably a sense of purpose, which I had for most of 2005 and which got me through the INSANE amounts of suck.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Dude, I have maybe four items of clothing this year that I didn't have last year and the year before and the year before. I just wear whatever I have on hand.

34. What kept you sane?
Um. Quite shamefully, RPing did. Also the WONDERFUL AMAZING PEOPLE I am so happy to be able to call my friends. This means YOU, envyofthestage, peterpanser, atalantapendrag, cassandrapoe, hutchie2006, princessjessia, puredeadthingie, all my lovely RL friends who either don't have or don't use their livejournals (Lee-chii, Jen, and my old skoolers XD) and ALLLLLLL the IRC crew. XD

SO MUCH LOVE FOR YOU GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEA.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
TOTALLY NOT TEATIME BY THE WAY

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Too braindead for political issues this year. :O I know.

37. Who did you miss?

My mum GAH EMO. The bruv. When he moved away, obviously, not while he was still living here.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
All my beautiful IRC friends. Special mention goes to atalantapendrag and cassandrapoe. *snugglenuz*

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Stuff keeps on happening, and you have to keep on doing it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
God. I don't know. I don't think the -lyric- is right, but Caroline by the Kaiser Chiefs probably has the right mood. That or What Did I Ever Give You?

You've got everything so why-oh-why
Did you have to take Caroline?
I bet you thought that was the death of me
Coz you are everything I wanna be

OR

I wish that you could see me in the day
I hope that you'll remember me that way...
Coz what did I ever give you
When you wanted me to
All I gave you was pain
Or a look of disdain

SUZANNE IS A CHEERFUL GIRL YES SHE IS. XD

Sorry. I can't help I had rather a sucky year. ^^;; NOW I'M GOING TO TASHIE'S TO GET DRUNK YAAAYE

meme, end-of-year
