God, I miss going to exciting new places and getting lost and taking hundreds of pictures. Did I ever picspam Amsterdam? I should do that, if I haven't. There are rumblings in the house about the lot of us saving money and going to India over the summer, which I'm very excited about. I also need to save up so I can go visit Tash while she's studying in Japan.

Things are a bit hectic here. Me and a bunch of friends - including two of my current housemates, who I love to pieces - applied for university housing together. We got rejected, along with 500 other students in a tiny little town. Not good. The estate agents were mobbed. The own is almost out of its supply of student-friendly accommodation. Luckily, I've managed to wrangle my way in with some acquaintances, so we've got an interview with a potential landlord (or with the agency? I've never done this kind of thing before, so I'm not sure) on Tuesday. It's a little out of the way but less than £300 a month - pretty rare, here. And it has a garden! And a bath!

I know it's just Grass Is Always Greener syndrome, but I keep reading travel blogs and going through my old pics and wondering what I'm doing here. Possibly because it's Essays Week and I'm stupidly behind because of my week in bed. (You can tell when it's essays week because suddenly everyone in our house becomes really interested in baking, cleaning, arty endeavours - or, say, updating their LJ.) But... I wish, at the very least, I'd travelled for that half-year when I came back from Borneo. Saw the rest of Malaysia and the rest of the region. Sometimes I don't care much about studying and getting a good degree and an ambitious job and just want to traveltraveltravel, working dumb jobs and staying random places for a few months at a time. I could teach ESL! I could become a photographer! I could make documentaries! I could become really good at cards and live off my wits!

... or not. Ah, well.

In other news, I've been recruited into doing a zombie film. Hali's writing it. I thought I was going to do lighting or something, but turns out I'm the 'gruff Van Helsing character who hates everyone'. Sweet.
